Barta has to be fired for this 10 year mess

Recruits read this stuff. I get it's a place to vent frustrations but let's not be that fan base that runs off the guys who plan on coming.

Lets look at the facts. There are only 65 teams that are in Power 5 football conferences. Of those only about 35 teams are legit programs with a realistic shot at making some noise in that universe. Iowa is one of those 35 programs. We have the 5th largest fan base in the B1G and the 15 largest fan base in the country. We have dynamite facilities and a suffocating home field advantage, the willingness and ability to pay top dollar for coaching.

We should always be in contention for the Western B1G championship with Wisky. Every single year. This BS about not being able to recruit is garbage. There are literally 55 million people living within 400 miles of Iowa City and the 2nd largest city in the country within a 3 hour drive. You're telling me we can't recruit with the best teams in the country? For this alone Barta should be fired.

Not being able to leverage Iowa's inherent and overwhelming advantages on a weekly basis through PR throughout the country is an abject failure of the Iowa legislature and the U of I administration. They are literally shitting the bed every year that they fail to capitalize on this gift horse of a situation to promote the university and the state at every opportunity that college football affords.

The failure to promote the University is the real crime here. For this incompetance alone heads should roll.

There were a few inaccuracies in your post

Just think what it would be like if anyone of you were directly affected by a Iowa football win or lose. It would be awful... and I would think you would come on here and post crazy things like...."Fire Bartz, Fire the staff, This player sucks and that player sucks"....yeah gibberish like that. And I wouldn't blame you because you would be emotionally locked in being PART of it. I am so glad none of you have any part of your life affected by what happened yesterday.

Didn't Ferentz scare off our 3 best recruits last year anyway?
Well lets reply to more of this overreaction. I believe that our two best recruits were AJ Epenesa and Tristinn Wirfs so the answer to your question is NO! It is certainly possible that ISM, B Smith, and maybe even Copper are better then Corrales, so NO! And just for giggles, I'm fine with IKM and Bryan over Eno as well, so NO!

Maybe you can tell us what we should or shouldn't complain about in advance, from now on? That way we'll know the rules and post accordingly. Thanks, donk.

To be honest... Barta should have been fired for a lot of stuff, including the ridiculous football coaching contracts. But the last straw should have been following the court case last year involving the lawsuit against the athletic dept.

If he survived that, it proves to me that no one at the U has the balls to do it or they are simply too lazy to go thru the process of hiring his replacement.

willingness and ability to pay top dollar for coaching.
You've described the fortunate position of Iowa very well. And the willingness and ability to pay top dollar for a coach who gets out coached by everyone every week should attract every coach in the land. By these facts alone, if the next coach can win an outright Big Ten championship, say once, that would be an improvement, and would warrant even more money, bringing his salary to roughly $1 billion/year. Everyone knows salaries mean nothing.

And then we'd all happily pay $1000 any given Saturday, wouldn't you? I know I would.

KF is just fortunate that the Iowa fan base is content with mediocrity.

And thats the main issue. Iowa fans are okay with the 8-4 seasons. They just want to go to a bowl game. They don't believe that Iowa can be a powerhouse. All they do is make mundane excuses about not being able to get good kids to come to Iowa.

Iowa fans want a powerhouse. Barta is the one about doing it all the right way

By "doing it all the right way," you must be referring to fundraising, because that's the only thing GB has shown that he's good at. When it comes to the performance of Iowa's sports teams, he presides over the 12th-14th best athletic department in the B1G.

I meant by getting the "right" kids and ones who have good grades amd that bologna

Yet another stupid post. Of course, stupid posts come out of the wood work every time Iowa loses a game. People need to grow up and realize that THIS IS IOWA FOOTBALL. Its been the same since HAYDEN FRY took over. And lets not take into account that the Big ten is much tougher then it was when Hayden coached. Were all you "lets fire the staff people" pissing and moaning all the years that Hayden was coaching? Were you all calling for Hayden and the staff to be fired? If not, your all hypocrites. If its not good enough for you, I would suggest becoming an Ohio State or Alabama fan. Good lord, and we like to call the Nebby fans douchebags.
