Always nice to see how the Hawkeyes do even though it's just fall exhibition. I liked the fact that these games were never really in doubt. Iowa jumped out early and both and never looked back. I am excited for the new guys on this roster.
I wonder if that is good or bad?
I think when a guy like Blake Hickman switched positions and started pitching it was good. Then I think a guy like Wes Freie when he pitched. I think it was due to lack of quality depth. Freie was more of a 1B/power hitter.
Just looking at the roster it seems like there is a ton of depth at pitcher, but they might have used Day possibly trying to not throw too much and keep the guys healthy? Hopefully Kaufman and Martsching will be 100% this year. Nice to add Eldred and Platts along with the Juco guys Vandermaten and Grant. What position does Sean Moore play? Also, seems like there are possibly four guys who could start in the OF with Toole/Booker/Goodman/ESJ anyone have any projected starting lineups?
Wichita State had Sean Moore listed as 2B. So we will see. I will say shortstop is the position that concerns me most from a defensive stand point. I am not sure who will play SS? Roscetti? Moore? Mangler?
I've not watched Moore play but Mangler does not have the arm to play shortstop. Roscetti played short Sunday and he saw a little time there as a freshman when Yacinich was banged up. My biggest concerns for this team are shortstop and catcher.
I am not as concerned with catcher. I like what Frankos did the last part of the season. I also think Sole has an upside and will get a chance to play.
Yacinich made a lot of great plays at SS last season. I am not sure from a defensive stand point that we have anybody that capable currently. I hope I am wrong.

Pickett was pretty highly touted out of high school, didn't play much as a freshmen and redshirted last year, maybe he will get some time this year. Probably not starting, but at least get some experience.
I listened to some audio from Rick Heller and he mentioned the defense was sharp on Sunday, only one error in the 16 innings and it was on an interference on the catcher.
