Looked competent with a lively arm and some mobility. I will take that as an Iowa fan.
Stratton deserves the start,.. but Friday's game will be more about our D than our QB..
While true that the offense and defense have trended in opposite directions, it's always a case of where each unit started. One was top 5 and one was bottom 5. The top 5 one is still very good, ranked 12th in the nation. The offense is much improved, but is still ranked 55th in the country in scoring.
In regards to wins and losses, I would argue that holding a team to 20 or fewer points in today's game should result in a win. Using that as a benchmark, the defense only really stumbled vs OSU and MSU. They only allowed 20 points vs UCLA and ISU. The offense needs to do better in those games than 19 and 17 points. I know that it's Iowa, and scoring points has been an oddity over the last several years, but any good college offense needs to put up at least 21 points against those teams. Iowa could not.

Isn't that around a 75-team jump? In one year, with most of the same players Iowa improved from the offensive cellar in the 130s nationally to being in the top half.

Just demonstrating how much better the offense has become this year. The passing game is still a mess. WR will surely be a high priority in the free agent period.
