We will also have Pat Fitzgerald's son coming in as a walk on from the Chicago area. I think you might have described him one time as a real steal who should make a nice addition for depth in the QB room.
forgot about him!

Looked competent with a lively arm and some mobility. I will take that as an Iowa fan.
But also the one thing that is so frustrating.“Piss poor” would be a relative term… I think too many fans had too high of expectation of tge defense…..therefore vs. MSU was uninspiring, granted… but all in all, it is what it is…
Can’t be surprised Iowa won today…Kirk frustrates his haters by winning these kind of games…he’s a damn solid FB coach with strengths and foibles just like us all…but he is a good one for rallying the troops when least expected….Go Hawks! Beat the Huskers!
While true that the offense and defense have trended in opposite directions, it's always a case of where each unit started. One was top 5 and one was bottom 5. The top 5 one is still very good, ranked 12th in the nation. The offense is much improved, but is still ranked 55th in the country in scoring.I would argue that the offense has stepped up big time this season & the D has taken a step back
Chuck Long won his “first start” back in the day at Tucson one HOT September night back in ‘83. ( if memory serves me correctly)

Long became the starter at the beginning of the 1982 season but got off to a slow start. He threw for just 31 yards in the season-opening 42-7 loss at Nebraska.Chuck Long won his “first start” back in the day at Tucson one HOT September night back in ‘83. ( if memory serves me correctly)
Yes. I said that. They went from horrific to average. Big jump overall. Passing game is still horrific. Otherwise with that running game they could be well above average.Isn't that around a 75-team jump? In one year, with most of the same players Iowa improved from the offensive cellar in the 130s nationally to being in the top half.
Major improvement in the offense.
He then got benched for Tom Grogan for Game 2 against Iowa State, only to return as the starter in Game 3 against Arizona.Long became the starter at the beginning of the 1982 season but got off to a slow start. He threw for just 31 yards in the season-opening 42-7 loss at Nebraska.
The infamous threw up on Hayden's white pants game.
Just demonstrating how much better the offense has become this year. The passing game is still a mess. WR will surely be a high priority in the free agent period.Yes. I said that.
