I expected to see a lot more support of BB. Seems as if the KF haters, minus a very few who've posted lately, have disappeared like the blackskirts.

I am still a skeptic. I want to see this team take care of business against the likes of Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, etc... Then steal one or two or more from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern, Nebraska....

No "true" hawk fan would question those that spent a good portion of last season and the off season railing against KF and stating how wonderful it would be if BB were in IC. Go ahead and keep your head in the sand.

Obvious troll remains very obvious.

Still want BB as Iowa's next coach.
I do not think there is a single thread that I have agreed with you on, which is OK. But can you explain at this time why you want BB as our head coach. The only publication he has received all year is from his team dramatically underachieving and from him putting his foot in his mouth. Thanks, but no thanks I will pass until he learns that the focus should be on the play of his players on the field and not on his questionable opinions....never liked coaches who put the spotlight on themselves...reminds me of Rex Ryan a little bit in that regard.

Are you saying you are a "true" hawk fan?
I've read enough of your posts to know better. What say you?

Hawk fan since 1977. Not sure which posts indicate differently. I hate all the double talk on this board and post accordingly.

Yes, we appear to be polar opposites. You can't just look at the first three games this year. He had great success at Wisconsin and I think his style of football would be ideal at Iowa. His offensive lines while at Wisconsin were dominant. Not to mention that he is a good recruiter. He is cocky and speaks his mind but that might be a little refreshing after KF. It is not a quality that I like in a coach but I can look beyond that as I think he would be a great fit at Iowa.

Some people think that Rex Ryan's act is partially what it is to take pressure off of his players and let the media focus on him.

Since January 2015 the posters have really matured. I would say that before January, many of the posters on this board didn't have the maturity level necessary to post responsibly.

I'm pretty sure that if you took a random sample of Hawkeye report posters, the average hair length has declined. This is an obvious sign of maturity.

A mature poster wouldn't say the following:

"Jeez a lot of people are puffing there chests after a 3-0 start with wins over the Sagarin rated 52, 62, and 88 teams. "

His style of football is the exact style of football that many complain about KF? He did a nice job at Wisconsin, but had a bowl record of 2-4 and bailed before the bowl game in his final season. Ok, so beyond his 1-2 record and losing to TOLEDO and a very poor Texas Tech.....he has a combined record of 11-17 at Arkansas....and his Wisconsin teams had very similar rankings as Iowa's during his tenure.....plus it is so hard to get past his arrogance and just stupid/unfortunate comments

I am not among the BB revisionists Badger fans- he ran a clean program and was indeed a good recruiter. Yet you are giving him too credit much for the success of the offensive lines. He found it hard to retain good coaches and it wasn't always about comp. Speaking ones mind can be a good or bad trait, as Bret has again demonstrated the past several weeks.

Seems like a lot of posters have forgot BB lost his stud RB before the season started. How many think the Hawks would be 3-0 if we lost CJB ?

so milehigh who would you like as Iowa's next coach?
I'm hoping we don't have to worry about that for a while, only bc that means we are successful.....but idk that's a great question.....honestly the only person on staff now with HC ability is BF in my opinion....I think he will be a good one done the road but idk......I just want us to win now and worry about a new coach in a few years

Well he did manage to get his team to 3 straight Rose Bowls before he left town, which most Iowa fans don't realize is still played, even if it's not always under the "old" Conference affiliation.

Lets look at the overall records of Bielema and Ferentz when they were in the same Conference together (i.e. - fairly similar competition schedules):

Beilema = 68-24 - Conference Record= 37-19

Ferentz = 51-38 - Conference Record= 27-29

Bielema = Ranked teams at end of year in Top 25 = 6 of 7 years

Ferentz = Ranked teams at end of year in Top 25 = 2 of 7 years

Bielema = Bowls = Capital One, Outback, Champs Sports, Champs Sports, Rose, Rose, Rose

Ferentz = Bowls = Alamo, No Bowl, Outback, Orange, Insight, Insight, No Bowl

Bielema = Bowl Record = 2-4 (didn't Coach last Rose Bowl when he left for Arkansas)

Ferentz = Bowl Record = 3-2 (Way to go Kirk!)

Bielema = Years on Probation, Lost scholarships, etc. = 0 (correct me if this is wrong, I don't recall for certain, but sure don't remember any)

Ferentz = Years on Probation, Lost scholarships, etc. = 0

Bielema = Beat bad teams badly = Often
Ferentz = Beat bad teams badly = Well, ya know, not very often and then there's Iowa State (I suppose Bielema was just lucky there isn't a Wisconsin State.....)

Head to Head Record = I don't know

So, I think any reasonable Football fan could draw a conclusion from this data, there is a clear trend, but I'm sure some won't quite grasp the reality (someone mentioned "head in the sand").

Nice post sloe but lets not let facts get in the way. I like BF as a coach and think he will make a good head coach, but I don't think his first head coaching job should be at Iowa. And in fairness to BB at Arkansas he walked into a mess and is playing in the toughest conference in the country.

Well for myself, I want him because of his insanely good track record of success.

He's an Iowa guy and his specialty is big Olinemen.

You may not like guys like Rex Ryan but most players do.

TT seems to be doing ok against TCU.

Arkansas was terrible before he got there and is a pretty difficult spot to win at considering it's by far and away the toughest conference division in college football.

It's going to happen sooner than latter no matter what.

Iowa puts up 60 and people are arguing about Bret Bielema. Ahh, I love message boards.

Why bring up past negativity? Trying to stir the pot? Let sleeping dogs lie.

go hawks
Exactly. I love these posts that want to call out Iowa fans. Hey we are all happy with how Iowa is doing and the majority were not happy with the direction of the program prior to this season. So get over yourself with these high school-type messages and let's just enjoy the season.

Actually they haven't complained because he is doing what they've asked for the past several years.

And nice guys finish last, I'll take the a-hole that wins games he's PAID to win any day of the week and twice on Sundays. This isn't Church or Chess.

And so would Leo Durocher - I never did say that you can't be a nice guy and win. I said that if I was playing third base and my mother rounded third with the winning run, I'd trip her up.

He's in the Hall of Fame. I'm not, so I'm going to take his word for it.;)
