We had Clark and then Olsen as the playmakers the last few years. There is a lot of young talent coming back but no nobody with the ability to take over a game like these two. I really hope Jan can bring someone in who can elevate the play over everyone around them or next year could be tough.

How about JuJu Watkins?

I would really like to know if JJ plans to hand Addie Deal the keys at PG from Day1. Seems illogical not to do so but Deal can play either guard position.

I was surprised to hear JJ say that she would like to add a couple players from the portal. That would be great.

I personally feel AH with an off-season of getting stronger and developing is going to be very good next year and will start. HS will be playing out of position and I would like JJ to get an another shooting guard/forward who can come in and start. HS can be a valuable asset getting minutes off the bench, IMO. 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately "square peg in a round hole" or not, I'd bet a good amount of money that there's NO way that Hannah doesn't start next season, and Kylie as well with her coming back. I hope she does turn the keys over to Deal, because right now we don't have a guard who can make plays, and feed the post properly or on time.

In all honesty so was CC22 "more of a 2. Deal is an excellent passer, and barring another addition she'll need to facilitate the offense.
There are a significant number of factors involved in adding a portal player not just NIL $. The individual has to want to be a part of the culture created at Iowa. Any additions will have an impact on the current roster and also potential recruits down the road. Players want to play or see a path toward playing time.

I think they got for next year already.

Do you think if Jan wasn’t the “post whisperer” they would’ve stopped throwing those awful post entry passes?
Yes = I find that she is struggling with adopting to team and game and that is bothersome IMO.

This years team might have been the worst post feeding team that I can remember at Iowa.

You guys are right about bad forced passes yesterday, but since the USC game in late January they had that issue pretty resolved. If the only game you have watched in the last 10 was yesterday, you saw an outlier. They just played poorly. If you want a better look at what Jensen had done with this team, watch that USC game, or maybe the Nebraska and Michigan games from February, or maybe the 1 point loss to another potential F4 team, UCLA.

If you simply cherry pick the one game yesterday, or the losing streak in January, you aren't getting a balanced evaluation.

Kiera Pemberton Jr North Dakota
Combo forward. 6ft1
17 ppg, 7.x rb, 1.x ast, 1.x stl, .06 blk
33% 3ptfg

Would have 2 years of eligibility. Has handles of a pg. Can get to basket. Brings the ball down the court for them.

A+ eurostep. A speed and handles. Might get into foul trouble against a big 4. But can play either the 3 or 4 depending on Hannah's development

Hannah needs to step up. I question if she has the drive to do it

The one weakness that Lebron James had when he first got into the NBA was his 3 point shooting. He put a heavy emphasis during the off season to fix that. He did and is has a strong argument for the best NBA player ever.

If LJ can do it, I totally believe that HS can do it!

You compare LJ, a NBA player and HS? Not a valid comparison.

This was back in December with Hannah playing the 4 vs. BYU in Cancun. Sure, not the athletic competition of the Big Ten, but nevertheless I think it illustrates Stuelke isn't working from scratch. I'd suggest confidence has been her biggest hurdle in her entire game--everything from putting up shots to finishing at the hoop. Is it enough to work with over the summer? Idk.

Here are the time stamps you want to scroll through:
1:45 --3pt shot to start the game
5:55, 6:12 -- two nice assists in a row
8:40 -- baseline jumper
21:14 -- 3 pt. shot

*bonus 13:00 -- Ava Heiden spin move to the hoop.

We got a high scorer last year out of the portal, LO. So, try again. Leading scorer, Ta’Niya Latson is leaving Florida State and entering in the portal.

Average 25.2 points per game this season and also posted 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists. The 5-foot-8 guard from Miami was also second nationally in usage rate (38.1) and sixth in player efficiency rating (38.5).

Anyone know what usage rate is?

I know, I know, a long shot, but why not try.

You win a national recruiting battle for an elite 5-star PG and you decide to have another player (Guyton?) run the offense? It’s possible, I guess, but it doesn’t make much sense to me.
Deal will start. Dochterman also said as much on Monday. She will be the starter from the get go.

Especially since Guyton showed some flashes midseason but was ineffective the last half. Maybe she makes a big leap forward next year, but especially with her size, she needs to show major improvement to be useful. I sure would be shocked if she were the starting PG next season. I thought that would be Deal for sure.

I'm guessing all the blue bloods are lining up.

100% correct. And....I really don't think she has that drive. She will likely play another year of decent basketball but will show no tangible development from this past year. She's undersized at the 5 and she lacks the talent and skills to be a good 4. Bottomline: she isn't going to grow 2 or 3 inches, and she won't develop an 8 to 10 foot shot (and certainly not a longer jump shot).

I have to agree, other than improving free-throw shooting, IMO she has not improved her game much in three years. She does not appear to have the drive to be the best she can be, but JMO.

Who in this world has ever thought of Caitlin as more of a shooting guard than point guard?
