Beautiful Fall evening

We had our first cool night here in North Florida. 59 degrees overnight and 75 today. People are loving it.
We need some good weather days here for storm cleanup. 🙂
Son and family arrived home today in St Pete. Sent pics of a huge oak tree out front that fell away from his house into the street. Many pine trees in a park across the street uprooted. Big pine tree in back fell across the fence into neighbor's pool taking out the house power lines. BUT no flooding in the house so he's happy as a clam. Pool is clear full of water (not the good clear kind) but not sewage.
His fishing kayak even survived with no damage.

Frost warning in Iowa a couple days next week…
I’ll tell ya Boyz…if Iowa doesn’t get some serious moisture the next couple of months before COLD weather sets in (Dec, Jan and Feb), this winter is going to feature cities and home owners spending BIG $$$ repairing ruptured water mains/ pipes. You think city streets are tough to negotiate now with construction (and these interruptions ARE planned!), wait until we have some unscheduled water main breaks!

You know as the day wore on lots of people returned home and so many are saying that overall Helene was worse.
It certainly was for North Carolina.
Glad it wasn’t devastating for your son.

Curious about this, why would that happen without moisture?

I have been told by “experts”….a neighbor has worked 30+ years for city street/water department…that moisture forms frost and freezes the ground in cold weather and this frost/frozen ground acts as “insulation” and keeps the ground firmer ands resists vibration better and vibration over time really wears anything under the streets…same reason why I keep only drain 6k gallons of water from my 20k gallon swimming pool when I winterize it…water pressure keeps the sides of the pool from contracting in cold weather.

Walked to the NBA Preseason game and back, it was actually a very nice walk through Des Moines tonight. It's really not a bad looking city when you're down in the bridge area between Court and East Village. Perfect temp, I love the fall, it's my favorite season in Iowa.

I just went outside to piss and was immediately hit with the smell of fallen leaves, it was fantastic. The maples are starting to turn beautiful reds, oranges and yellows here in NE Iowa so the bluffs look amazing right now. I’m glad I live somewhere where I can experience all four seasons. CSB.
Seasons are nice, and the terrain is beautiful, but you have to live around a bunch of slackjaws in NE Iowa just for a few weeks of pretty leaves. I was back this week, did a big drive through the driftless region; roots. Bunch of dumpy towns set in a majestic landscape, and it all just keeps getting even shittier every year.

There are definitely plenty of hicks around here, that’s typical of all of Iowa, but Decorah is pretty liberal and a beautiful town. The scenery is the best in Iowa no matter the season. Feel free to never visit again, we won’t miss you.

Headin up in two weeks with my two boys before my son has surgery on his ACL
Sorry to hear about your son, that sucks! How did he get injured?
My son is recovering from a labrum tear, so he’s missing FB and BB this year.
Hope you guys have good luck fishing.

Football injury. We will have a great time! Just camped near McGregor this weekend.

I caught a nice Brown. Didn’t weigh it or measure but I would guess it was 5-7 pounds. My middle son was with me. We got a picture and threw it back. My son still asks why I didn’t mount it to this day.

I caught a 28" out of NBear a year or 2 before my son. Didn't mount that one because I had one I had caught in Colorado that I mounted previously. Regret it to this day as Colorado 'bow was only 20". It was delicious though.

You're an idiot and couldn't be more wrong.
