Bernie Sanders, the socialist, is a 1%er.

Sanders reported a net worth of $330,507 in 2013. In October of 2014, Hillary earned $335,000 to speak at a Qualcomm event in San Diego.

Sanders, a self-proclaimed socialist and a staunch critic of Wall Street, has an estimated net worth of $330,507, making him the poorest candidate currently in the race.

Rep. Bernie Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist who trounced millionaire Rich Tarrant in Vermont’s Senate race, seems to live a spartan life, in accordance with his political beliefs. Aside from a Burlington condominium valued at $100,000 to $250,000, he had just $31,000 to $115,000 stashed in a credit union and a retirement account.

Looks like 300k to 500k.

I'm not a Bernie Sanders guy but wouldn't $2 mil net worth qualify you as a "poor" as far as senators are concerned?

OP's link specifies that it includes all of his assets. So I am assuming real estate and retirement savings. So I wouldn't say 2 million is a lot at his age. He is the 84th poorest Senator with many below him being in the red.

I bet his retirement account alone is worth over 2million.

Nope. Socialism means to share the wealth.
What else did you expect from him? He was a failure in his short experience in the private sector, so he decided to become a lifetime politician where he wouldn't have to do anything. Plus, he's from Vermont. They are some strange birds those Vermonters.

IMCC hates successful people. People sponging off the taxpayers IMCC applauds.

$150,000.

Quick google search and his salary currently is $174,000.

Here is my thing, he has been in congress since 2007 making roughly $150,000 and his net worth is only $330,000? What the heck is he spending his money on?

I don't care for Bernie but having money is a sign of someone smart and successful. I'd be more concerned if he were broke.

There is no hypocrisy nor inconsistency in succeeding using a system in place while pushing to change it.

We all know the old pedo has offshore accounts that contain millions of dollars. Sanders is no different than the rest of them in congress. If you think he is, you're a fool.

Maybe we should get that figure down to teacher's wages. They're definitely making more than minimum wage.

$50k a year is plenty.
While I like the sentiment, $50k/year to live in DC and travel as required isn't enough.

Well, he presumably has to maintain two residences, and one of them is in an incredibly expensive city. This is the problem with quoting a salary and trying to say it makes one "rich". I make significantly less in Iowa than I did in the NYC area, but if you just observed my lifestyle in both regions, you'd think I'm "richer" in Iowa.

He has a bigger boat than Rubio.

Ole Bernie is a socialist. Name one socialist "leader" that lives by the same standards as the people they rule over.

I was not pushing back on a statement that "all socialists are the same". I was pushing back on your statement that (paraphrasing) "all senators are the same". They are not.

Really???? Do I have to be the one to say it? Isn't it obvious the guy likes blow and hookers?

I left the punchline to someone else and you totally came through!
