Best Lynyrd Skynyrd album?

Of those choices, One More from the Road. But if you don’t count greatest hits compilations, you probably should not count concert recordings since they are typically greatest hits, with a couple of songs from a current release mixed in.
Pronounced is excellent. SH is pretty good too, just not quite as good.
For the most part, all downhill from there material-wise. Certainly "competent", their practice makes perfect style of writing and recording was legendary. Tom Dowd would state they were one of the easiest acts to work with because when they got to the studio, the material had already been smoothed out to where it was ready to go note for note.
But for me nothing else they did equaled Pronounced.

One More from the Road. Gets all their great songs in their best environment--live and on stage.
If strictly studio albums, Pronounced gets the nod from me. They're all pretty damn good, any way you slice it.

Of the studio albums, I'd rank them in this order:
Second Helping (has more of their well-known songs)
Pronounced (a close 2nd)
Street Survivors (only one with Gaines, a couple of great songs & a few other very good songs)
Nuthin Fancy (couple of very good songs, a few meh)
Gimme Back (their weakest effort, nothing on it jumps out as being great)

The first song off the first album (Pronounced) is as good of a first song of any band ever. It announced that they were here to kick ass. Probably my favorite Skynyrd song. And I love cranking it in the car.
