Best Rock Drummer Ever?

Benny Benjamin, who banged the drums on many of motown's hits.

Personally I really like Mick Fleetwood. And, of course, the drummer for TWGRnRB is essential to this thread, so Charlie Watts

Another must on the list is Carly Barrett. His framework and his brother's bass laid the foundation for what the reggae music that the world fell in love with.

I'm a huge fan of the Stones but I've never really been blown away by Watts. Every time I see him play he has a look on his face like there's about a thousand other places he'd rather be.

This.

I voted based on drummers I notice, can't say Watts is one of those guys.

The secret to rock drumming is to be solid, not fancy. And never do a long drum solo, ever!

Exactly right. Context is key, just like the drummer from Black Keys (Patrick Carney).
I often see a lot of comments online where people put Carney down, saying he doesn't keep time very well. As I mentioned in another thread, I don't know much about the technical aspect of drumming, but I'm a big fan of the Black Keys and I damn sure enjoy listening to Carney play drums.

Well, if he doesn't keep time very well, apparently, I don't either. I appreciate any group that doesn't go out of their way to turn the volume down on drums.

I saw the Black Keys right before they blew up roundabout 2008/2009. Just the two of them, at an outdoor venue that held about 1,000 people. I was right place, right time that night. Top 3 concert of all time for me.
