Betts to NYG

Possibly. But also he feels his stock won't get any higher after coaching one of the best ever at Iowa. Strike while the iron is hot. But to the NYG?? SMH
Well much more run to go up in the rushing rankings at the Giants than to go down. But greatOLine blocking is out of the control of the RBack coach

The resume boost puts him in line to be a head coach in FCS or maybe a lower lever FBS, if that's what he wants to do eventually.

Dabol is very highly regarded in the NFL and would have a job the next season if fired by the Giants. not a bad guy to align yourself with.

But we get to keep Barnett and Gift from Heaven, right?
Sad that you don't understand the improvements in the O-line room that Barnett has made. Line was a semi-finalist for the Joe Moore award, paved the way for a much improved running game and our OL recruiting has really stepped up. Barnett has been a solid contributor to our offense.

Barnett inherited a mess there too. Plumb and DeJong were two of the worst O linemen of the KF era to earn multiple starts. Still need to improve pass pro but they were very good in the run blocking scheme.

This honestly makes no sense to me. Betts is leaving his alma mater, that also happens to be one of the most stable programs in all of college sports from a coaching standpoint, for a lateral move at what might be the most dysfunctional franchise in the entire NFL. He could make that move any year he wanted to, given his pedigree as a player in the NFL and what he's done at Iowa to this point. Makes you wonder what happened behind the scenes. I love Tim Lester, but maybe a difference of opinion happening?
Look at almost any coaches resume. First 10 years are full of 5-6 moves up the ladder at different places. That's the industry

Forgive me for not fellating GB because he finally managed to put together a halfway-serviceable OL in his 4th season (Joe Moore award semi-finalist - LOL) with the most experienced group in the country, made to look good by one of the best RB in the country. So glad we were able to steal him away from Tulane....

Facts are facts, Iowa was the only unranked team to be selected as a semifinalists in the list of 10 teams. I think the Joe Moore selection committee might know a little more than you. Johnson was the first to mention his offensive line after great rushing games. I don't think you get it.

...who didn't listen to Iowa coaches when they suggested a move to RB.
i think you have that backwards. he was a rb in high school and we recruited him as a wr. so, the offensive staff showing it's brilliance from the outset.

from si:

"I always knew I wanted to play running back but I never had the opportunity to. The opportunity was at receiver," he said. "At Iowa, we had some great running backs. At Purdue, we had great running backs. So, I just did what the team needed me to do. They needed me to be a receiver, so I went out there and did the best I could."

typical ineptness on offensive side for Iowa.

Thankful for what he did with the hawks- I know as hawk fans we’re used to coaches never leaving but, believe it or not, a five year run is longer than average for assistant coaches at the D-1 level. Hope he has a lot of success in the pros

Candidly I’m equally impressed with the development and performance of Moulton and Patterson as I was with Kaleb. Clearly Kaleb was on another level, but the performance of all the younger guys is also a credit to Betts. It’s more than just having an amazing talent in Kaleb - the entire position group was a strength.

This is a big loss imo and will be a critical hire to keep the standard and development high for a position that is so obviously critical to an Iowa offense!

No one said I trust him, but Kirk does and I don't see Kirk allowing him to be let go. I see Lester maybe seeing that RB might be the "easier" of the two positions to coach and that with our lack of talent/production at WR that a true WR coach will make the most difference.

Ladell owes a huge debt of gratitude to KF for hiring.him. He was coaching at the HS level in Florida. I wish him well. Loved him as a Hawk. I hope one of his recruits turns into a highly productive back at Iowa.
