Biden Commutes Sentences Of 37 Death Row Inmates Says ‘We Must Stop’ Using Death Penalty At Federal Level

To do what he’s asking for, you have to envision the perfect case. That sort of standard where the bad guy is caught red handed, with all the evidence and witnesses accurate beyond any shadow of a doubt, with no funny games played by prosecutors/cops is all but impossible to meet practically.
That’s my point exactly. And if you allow capital punishment at all, prosecutors and judges will manipulate the system to put more and more cases into the absolute proof kind of category.

Biden further cementing his status as one of the worst presidents in American history.

Then you guys may find it odd that Biden did NOT commute the sentence of three people.
Ts and Ps that your ideological MAGAt bedfellows, killers in Black and Jewish houses of worship, were the ones left on death row. We know that’s what is really eating you up.

If it boils down to justifying the 37 and not the 3, at the World War II War Crime Tribunals, were we justified in prosecuting some SS camp personnel for atrocities at extermination camps and not others.

A symbolic point was made to bandage wounds. The degree of damage to civility couldn't be repaired by hanging the individuals who inflicted horrific pain and suffering. But though I'm against capital punishment, those people lost their privilege to exist in my opinion.

As far as the 3 on death row, they too calculated terror and death on a large scale. If they rot away in prison or die in a manner I'm not aware of, I could care less. And yes, I believe there is a difference between:
a) murder and terrorism, and
b murder and killing for the sport of hatred.

Not sure if I have ever mentioned this here when the topic came up in the past, My Grandmother and Step Grandfather were elderly and very limited physically in the early 90s, for some reason, probably not the smartest thing on their part, they started a very popular very green thumb weed growing operation in their basement in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a “friend” of theirs.
That guy ended up owing them something like $7000 over time which apparently he had no plan on paying back.
He broke into their house when he knew they would be unable to react fast. According to my Dad they were never far from their own weapons but this guy knew when they were the most vulnerable.
He gunned them down with a shotgun while they were passed out in their LayZBoys, grabbed what valuables he could and burnt their house down, almost completely robbing our family of a lot of precious family history and a few of the only people that cared to spoil my lil Sister and I.
To roughly quote Samuel L, my opinion is “yes he deserved to die and I hope he burns in Hell.” Iowa law doesn’t allow that of course so because of very exact evidence against him from leaving his prescription glasses on scene and going to the hospital with burns very shortly after he was sentenced to two life’s plus ten years for the arson.
In that sort of case I say kill the piece of shit immediately.
If one of my tax dollars went to keep him alive for at least another 25 years I’m pissed.
This isn’t an opinion coming from liberal or conservative thinking. It’s my own personal opinion after going through something truly violent and tragic and what it put my family through.

What's also obvious is that Fox News and Republican politicians are trying to create the impression that Biden actually released and pardoned all these people, not just that he commuted their sentences to life in prison.

Just such a full of shit, lying party.

Did the Democratic Party lie about the state of Biden’s (the current president) mental acuity?

Very sorry for what happened to your family.
This is however, exhibit A for why victims and their families aren’t allowed to have a say in sentencing. It’s the difference between justice and vengeance.

Glad to see this guy got life in prison and hopefully no chance of parole. Let him rot.

Biden commutes death row sentence for Pennsylvania man convicted of 12 murders

(WHTM) — President Joe Biden on Monday commuted the sentences of 37 people on federal death row, giving them a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Among those 37 men is Philadelphia “drug kingpin” Kaboni Savage, who was convicted for his role in 12 murders, including for his role in the firebombing and murders of the family of a government witness.

I think we should bring back public hangings and stonings. Nothing like seeing it in person to make for a determent for certain behaviors.
Why can't the right solve anything without extreme violence? Is it a lack of intellect? I don't get it.
