Biden/Title IX and NIL. Big news last night. Department of Education gets involved.

Okay, I gotchu.

In its purest form, perhaps. But name one actual Communist country that wasn’t run by a dictator and where the government didn’t control everything.

And obviously no Communist nation in a state of “equality” would survive unless the people were entirely robotic.

It's not very useful to worry about what despots call themselves.

1. When the dust settles, it's going to be interesting to see whether Biden or Carter's midnight rulemaking-like activities end up being more nettlesome. Lots and lots of litigation ahead.
2. The insane part about this particular one is that the very nature of NIL is supposed to be that it is unique to the individual, as it is in every other form of endorsement market.

Yep, that's the idea - although communism and authoritarianism are mutually exclusive - they can't exist together. Current countries that are lazily defined as communist may be in a transitory period toward it, but have not achieved it.

Capitalist countries will try to destroy a socialist country through either subversion or military attack, so they're forced to maintain tight control. The US had the policy of containment which it enforced through military intervention. Socialist states need to guard against this which can only be done through strong authority.

Robotic may be a little harsh, I think empathetic is a better word.

I don't believe that a person worth $400 billion should exist in a world where 2.4 million kids die of starvation every year.

I think you are still confusing university payment to athletes and outside funding.

no i get it, but the nil stuff, even via universities, is still based on nil theory rather than simply a fee for service payment for mere participation

I don’t see the NIL deal getting approved. What weed to happen is all athletes sign a contract and are employees. That way, the institutions as well as athletes will all have protections in place. The NIL deal even if approved in some form will allow schools to share revenue with athletes, but it will not stop top athletes from signing deals with sponsors and such.

that's just the source of the $
No. If a university decides to participate in revenue sharing the must share with all athletes. Is part of the the House vs NCAA lawsuit due to Title IX. All athletes are being paid for participation. Read the lawsuit or a quick Google.
