Big ISU donor in legal trouble...

You could limit it to Iowa and/or the Midwest and you'd still be laughably incorrect. Lynch is a small operator compared to who Tyson buys the majority of their product from.

Why would it kill me that he bought influence? That is what people do with money do and Reynolds is as buyable as one can be.
Bottom line, and you know this, is Lynch greatly benefitted from Kimmy refusing to force Tysons to enact Covid safety measures.

Corruption from people like Reynolds and Lynch is a big deal in a small State like Iowa. It's newsworthy because Iowa politics should be better than that.

Regarding Pollards/ISU's connection to Lynch... maybe ISU is in no position to be picky about who they do business with. And I suspect it gets worse if Cloneville is left out of the B1G.

When it rains, it pours.

Gary Lynch, a big, long time donor to ISU athletics has apparently been convicted of defrauding livestock producers by intentionally altering weight tickets and costing customers 100s of thousands of $$$.

Doing business as Lynch Livestock, this is apparently the 2nd time he was caught screwing customers.

Pollard might consider doing some background checks on boosters. Then again...maybe he knew and just didn't care.

FYI...Gary Lynch is also a huge Republican donor as well.
Trump will pardon him!

If not him, Kimmer will help a brother out!

Heard one guy was suppose to show up in court but ran straight into a bypass and died.

Gary’s brother also had a stroke a few hours after being fired after the 1st incident as well and I think is suing him?

Gary's brother is Hugh John Jr. that is referenced in the story posted by "rivalhawks". I went to high school with Jr.

I'm guessing family reunions don't happen.

Head on collision into a bridge.

This one is shaping up to be an episode on 60 Minutes. With the computer systems on a 2021 Dodge Ram, I bet they'll be able to determine he was likely 90mph+ on impact.

As a conspiracy theorist, maybe BossMan Lynch offered to pay Demaray's family a sum of $$$ if Demarey somehow wasn't able to testify against him in trial? With the previous Federal violation, BossMan might have been looking at prison time.
Demaray likely wouldn't be facing jail if the Feds offered him a deal to testify against Lynch..

Like sand through a hour glass, so are the days of our lives.

Big time donor? Never heard of him. What is named after him?

Someone got punked, big time.

Next time do a little research before you come to this site and look ignorant.

We have some very astute posters here, as you just found out.

Now run back to CF and continue the Clone Circle Jerk.

You have to wonder if the Gazette would go out of their way to point out the political party of fraudsters who are big Democratic supporters. Me thinks they would conveniently leave those little nuggets out.

And the Lynch family has also given considerable money to UofI Athletics recently most notably the new wrestling facility.

Talked with a pig guy this weekend about the new regulations in California starting Jan 1. He stated the industry is not ready to comply minus a few producers. Lynch’s operation of “happy hogs” will be allowed into the state. They fit the space requirements. He told me Lynch is in a position to be the #2 supplier of pork to the state of California.

In the business world, there's also the possibility the Feds force the corporation to make changes in mgmt with these cases.

If memory serves, you know the Lynch family, correct? I haven't lived in the area since the 70s. The only info I have of that business comes off news articles and a few old friends that live in the area.

I realize there are some questionable practices that occur in the livestock industry. Hell, I worked at a grain elevator after high school and know exactly how you could alter weight tickets manually. Doing it today with digital scales and electronic measures seems like it would take more work?

To me, it seems like ISU and Iowa should divest themselves of any association with a convicted criminal enterprise. Even go as far and return $$$.

I don’t know the family. Just been lucky enough to be invited to their tailgate a couple times in Ames. Always treated me well even tho I’m loud and proud Hawkeye fan.

I was told this year Lynch was expecting big things from the Clones so really tightened up on who gets invited to the tailgate and offered free tix. By mid season they were calling people and couldn’t give away tix. ISU in a nutshell.

Thanks for the info!

These practices of screwing producers takes some serious balls. I imagine you can do it relatively easy with some guy that sells a couple hundred head of hogs. But doing it to the Iowa Select Farms and Christiansen Farms of the world is pretty ballsy or pretty stupid. All they have to do if they're suspecting something sinister is run the semi over the local Coop's scale and compare to the buying station weights.

It's really kind of sad that there are unscrupulous businesses in the world.

BTW: I guess we now know where Mr. Lynch came up with the $$$ to donate to these universities.

Just become a Clone fan, it's obvious you'd like to be. You're already halfway there.

Generally if somebody offers to give you large amounts of money it's better not to ask too many questions.

In the political world, politicians many times offer to return $$$ to some charitable organization to remove the stench of dirty $$$ that was donated.

It probably won't happen, especially in the case of ISU, but if I was Barta, I would definitely divest myself from the Lynch stigma.

This is creeping closer to Gary it appears.
The fact that isn't the first brush with the law leads me to believe there will be a pretty hefty fine(even larger than the other fine) and Gary might have to divest from the company.

Pollard gonna be picking up aluminum cans in the I-35 median again.

I'm amazed this company was so brazen as to continue to commit the same fraud after multiple violations.

And I think it's a pretty safe bet that the actual instances where they were caught were probably only a small percentage of the total number of times they cheated customers.

And changing the name of your LLC so future business associates don't find out about your criminal past sounds like something straight out of the Trump playbook.

"Lynch Family Companies" Such a Family operation when you fire your brother and give him a stroke for blowing the whistle the first time in 2017. Then another employee who was indicted "accidentally" ran into a bridge last summer and died. Met with one of their managers last year and was told Gary would give the shirt off his back for anyone and he had no clue about any of this going on and the employees were fired immediately etc.

I can see a legislature mandated tax credit and/or a forgiveable business loan in the future for this outfit (Lynch Family Companies)! As long as their check finds its way to a Reynolds/Iowa GOP PAC, everything will be fine.
BAU.

Or to quote Trump...."Hardly knew those people ".

The firing of the employees is classic scapegoating.
