yes, there is now a 3 way tie for 2nd in the B1G
not sure what the tie breaker would be if all 3 teams (Illinois, Iowa, Rutgers) remain tied heading into the B1G Tournament
Because Illinois didn’t have to play Rutgers they own the tiebreaker since they have the best record between the 3 teams. That game 2 of the Illinois series is really biting Iowa in the butt.
Maryland, Illinois, Iowa and Rutgers are the clear top 4 teams in the B1G.
Their records vs each other:
4-2 Maryland...(2-1 vs IL, 2-1 vs RU, 0-0 vs IA)
3-3 Illinois.........(2-1 vs IA, 1-2 vs MD, 0-0 vs RU)
3-3 IOWA.........(1-2 vs IL, 2-1 vs RU, 0-0 vs MD)
2-4 Rutgers.......(1-2 vs IA, 1-2 vs MD, 0-0 vs IL)

Yep. For Iowa to finish 2nd in the B1G, Rutgers (at Michigan) can win or lose; that outcome does not matter. Iowa just has to win today vs IU and Illinois has to lose at Penn State.
And note that the 2 seed plays at 1 pm, the 3 seed at 9 am and the 4 seed at 9 pm on Wednesday.
Illinois has already beaten Penn State today, unfortunately.
For Iowa to finish 3rd in the B1G, Rutgers has to lose today.
IE, one of 2 things need to happen:
(1) Iowa wins & RU loses or
(2) Iowa loses & RU loses
Otherwise, Iowa finishes 4th in the B1G.

Really it's just the Rutgers outcome that will determine it. The Iowa game is irrelevant as far as seeding
Yep. As long as Rutgers loses today, Iowa is the 3 seed no matter what.
Otherwise Iowa is the 4 seed.

For at-large consideration, I don’t think Iowa can call into 4th place and below Illinois in RPI.
