Big Ten great first round!

8-0 pretty impressive most were covers as well! SEC 8-6… Half of the tournament remaining is from these 2 powerhouse conferences! Will one of these two conferences have a National Champ when all said and done…
Tried to find any mention of the 8-0 on ESPN but could not. Maybe I missed something? That kind of round usually merits some mention. Only Big 12 team to lose was Kansas. How cool is that. Bill can’t keep up now that every program is buying teams. (Except Drake😀)

I have to admit I’m not much of a BB lover (wrestler), but I do love March Madness. With that said, you serious Clark? The SEC got 14 teams in the tournament? If so, fvck that is such bias lol!

Unbeaten B1G men have 8 of the final 32 teams.

More than pretty impressive. It's record setting. First conference in history to get more than 6 wins in an undefeated start to the tournament.

Iowa was 10-10 in conference the previous year with Sandfort,Dix,Freeman, Perkins. ...we lost Perkins, but brought in Threlwell/Traore.
With full lineup and returing most of our starters. we were only 4-6 in B1G before Freeman got hurt. WE had Freeman while getting blown out by Wisconsin, UCLA,USC. We were also 1-3 vs the new B1G teams Oregon, WA, USC, UCLA.

My point--> the Big10 got a lot better in past year because a large amount of NIL money bought good players and the 4 teams that were brought in from Pac12 were pretty good teams with exception of WA. Illini totally rebuilt with NIL, Wisconsin got better, MIchigan got better, MSU got better, etc.

I think we will see the B1G start to dominate Basketball because Big10 has biggest Eyeball footprint (TV money), a population that likes college sports (NIL money). Iowa will be elevated vs mid majors/lower tier conferences with revenue sharing NIL, However we might not be able to compete inside B1G due to low NIL.

Big 10 was dominate in all their games. Sec lost 5. Not exactly good for the greatest conference man has every seen.

Oh, they did lose 6. Pretty lousy.
Because everything is judged, by what happens in one game.

It's a good start for the B10 but first round games don't really indicate conference strength, getting to the Sweet 16 does.
Maybe not, but winning is better than losing. And how the hell is your conference so great when you LOSE SIX first-round games? Imagine if the SEC had gone 8-0 and the BIG had lost six. What do you suppose the ESPN narrative would be then? LOL

If it weren't for SEC bias, ESPN wouldn't have a thing to say. They're about as fair and balanced as the clowns at what they call "FOX News."

ESPN is so SEC focused it is ridiculous. Their bias comes through every day, especially in football season. Sad. It started out a great idea but their relevance has fallen over the years.

Honestly, that is pretty cool. Yeah, getting a few to the S16 is an even bigger statement, but a clean sheet says something for sure.
I can't complain about 14 out of the SEC. Auburn, Florida, Tennesse, and Alabama would be 8 automatic losses for most B1G teams.

Great first round. Top 3-4 teams in the SEC are pretty salty though. And without looking they probably won’t meet each other until very late in the tourney or final 4. 🤞🏻they all have a bad game along the way.

I think the next two rounds will be more telling, when the competition moves up a notch or two. I personally think it is ridiculous for any conference, no matter how good the teams are, to get 14 out of 16 teams into the dance. Why bother to have a regular season and conference tournament? I think capping the number for a conference at 10 teams, would open the door for more small conference teams to show what they have, even if they don't have much chance of winning more than a game or two. UNC dancing was a joke,

I had my best first round of picking in a LONG time (I had all B1G teams winning and only missed 2 picks), so I kind of expect the shoe to drop today and tomorrow, and bring me back to reality. A long time ago, I actually was one game away from winning a national pick-em, but I haven't done anything close to that since. I didn't bother entering into any competitions, and wish we still had one on this site. I only do one bracket, and find it funny when people do a bunch of brackets and then brag about their best bracket. I have 7 of 8 B1G teams going to the Sweet16, but only 1 making the Elite 8. There are several B1G and SEC or Big12 matchups this weekend, and that should say more about the relative strength of the conferences. The NCAA tourney is still my favorite sporting event, but IMO college sports is in a downward spiral with an essentially unregulated NIL and transfer portal. The idea of student-athletes is gone, at least at the major schools.

ESPN just mentioned the 8-0 start for the Big 10

I think when a conference sets a record for most wins going undefeated to start the tournament it speaks to the depth of a conference. Their was a lot of very good teams in the conference this year but no truly dominant ones. I think Izzo has pulled his typical cat out of the hat with this year's team, getting them to peak after a less than stellar start. Same for Wisconsin. The SEC has some excellent teams at the top, but once you get past the top half it starts looking a lot like the bottom half of the Big10.

wisc player smacks byu big in face and arm clear as day and no call. so i expect another w in this one

Purdue moves on.
Michigan moves on.
Wiscy down 11 with 2:12 left 1st half.
UCLA and Tennessee later on.

Great first round for the Big Ten but Wisconsin and UCLA go down tonight. Illinois and Oregon will have very tough games tomorrow. Michigan State and Maryland have a real good chance of winning tomorrow.

Wisconsin "had no interest in playing defense" tonight as their own guys would say, giving up 91.

Tonje should've taken a long 3 to win it. He drove and had a layup but for some reason stopped and put up a highly contested fadeaway.

BYU played good defense on the final play. I thought Tonje should have taken it hard to the basket and forced a foul call.
