Bill Belichick Reported to be Next Coach at UNC

He'd better get recruiting, he has 7 kids that have signed NLI. He isn't exactly Deion Sanders either.

Don't you think the name does the recruiting?
He's one of the few that I think will have pull regardless of NIL. Wouldn't you want to play for a guy with fist-fulls of Super Bowl rings? He knows what it takes at the next level and I would think those who want to get there will at least talk to him. Could be wrong.
That said, it's not like he's going to be there that long given his age.

I don't think the name means much to these kids, he is a known hard ass with a non-sense attitude. I do think he is great at managing insane personalities. They could net an absolute haul from the portal with troubled kids that he could possibly turn around.

He just doesn't seem like a college coach kind of guy to me. To go from where he was to where he is just doesn't fit. With that said, UNC seems about as good a fit for a coach like him in college football. High academics and not just anybody can get in so he's going to be working with typically intelligent players and that'll probably help. I just don't envision him really going to recruits houses to sell himself to them or the parents. Not saying he won't but this whole thing feels odd.

You think Deion recruits on his name? He recruits on what he says he'll do for the kids, and his name backs him up on it. Good chance of a similar situation here.
He does recruit on his name. He had proven nothing prior to coaching at JSU, and that was JSU alone. Skill position players will continue to go to Colorado, but they will never take the next step because their lines are garbage.

I think we're going to see a new model emerge, where the recruiting duties and the coaching/development roles and duties will bifurcate.

Some of these head coaches are so burned out on recruiting they're voluntarily becoming coordinators, so they can spend more time actually coaching.

This may allow certain coaches, like Belichick, to enter the college coaching fray if the primary recruiting duties are taken off of their plates going forward. It would also mean that the "sales coach" types may get fewer opportunities, or they will become the GM/personnel guy for the program.

I listened to him describe how he would run a program, he will be a success and brand his team as a pipeline to the NFL. Money on him being in the playoff if 3 years.

The ACC is actually getting stronger. That is going to be a serious uphill battle with Miami, FSU, and SMU.

I feel bad when people don't know to just retire.

ACC is a joke conference, but he will not know how to do the college game with recruits / players. Furthermore he has been exposed on so many fronts, he is a liability for the the school. Bill is not scared to bend the rules.

He should turn in his “football crazy card.”That’s the equivalent of me saying that I wasn’t really sure who Tom Landry, Chuck Noll or Don Shula were when I was in college. And that’s ridiculous for anybody who follows the sport. Tell him to be better.

I get that the risk / reward aspect is favorable to UNC. But I just don't see it going well; other than the fact that ACC is a joke conference.

I don’t think this is a good move on his part. Not sure how well he will do in the collegiate ranks. Maybe should have waited to take the Cowboys job that will likely open up (I believe Jones would give him full authority).

He has a fist full of rings because of Tom Brady. Has not done shit since he left. You don't know today's kids. Most would have no clue who Bill B. is.
