I took the kids to their piano lessons this afternoon, and to kill time I drove down to the Terry Trueblood park and sat in my car to listen to the Score. I saw a big white cargo van pull up and a bunch of Amish get out. The only male was the driver. Well, maybe they were Mennonites. The women were all in the conservative dresses and bonnets. There were a few small kids. I was mildly surprised that they pulled out rollerblades and skate boards and started zipping around. One of them using a skate board was black.
I've never seen anything other than white Amish/Mennonites, nor have I ever seen them rollerblading. Anyone know enough about the Amish/Mennonites to know if they marry interracially, or have a non-white population.

Oh, that's just Leonard....

He was adopted by white people who happen to be Methodists. They never pushed sports upon him, therefore he's not coordinated. He hangs out with the Amish because they are less athletic than he is. The Amish allow him to hang around as the believe the black man is a brute and keep him close incase strangers attempt to mount an attack on the Amish group!

It's a complicated relationship!

Leonard Yoder?

I was really wondering what was under those big skirts. Gals that roller blade usually have great legs. Might even be worth turning Amish for.

We have a large Amish community in southern Iowa and yes there are a few black Amish kids running around.

There was one on the Amish Mafia show, if you believe that's real...

If the coverings were more like doilies (sin sifters) they could have been Conservative Mennonites (Different than Mennonites). Most Mennonites in Iowa couldn't be recognized by their dress, they look like anyone else, have cars, iphones, etc. If the coverings weren't see through they were most likely some brand of Amish.
