Black man shoots white officer

I point out race as the media has done for every reverse title of similar stories. I point out hate as the shooter walked up behind a white police officer and shot him and then shot him after he was dead on the ground.

one of my other curiosities is why did the media not put this as a black man shoots white police officer it seems the media has a bias.

if the colors were reversed it would have been titled as such

# cops lives matter

The suspect is being described as "dark complected".

It's a tragedy. A horrible event. I don't think it's time to muddy things up by focusing on race. It appears the guy wanted to kill a cop solely because he was a cop. It's not the argument that the Black Lives Matter crowd makes. They concentrate on arrest statistics, and how the system reacts when there is a shooting of a black person.

Terrible story. One of my favorite charities is MC-LEF. Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. http://www.mc-lef.org/mission-and-history/our-people/

From the link:
"Our Mission
Thanks to our generous donors, MC-LEF currently provides a $30,000 scholarship account for every child who loses a parent serving in the United State Marine Corps or any Federal Law Enforcement Agency. Since our founding in 1995, MC-LEF has awarded over $64 million in scholarships and other humanitarian assistance, and has supported over 3,500 children. Although MC-LEF is immensely proud of our work to date, there is still much to be done to support the families of America’s Marines and Federal Law Enforcement Officers. Please consider clicking on our “Donate” button to help support our mission and cause."

Almost all of the money donated goes to the families, just a little bit to pay for a small staff. Most of the people are volunteers including a cousin of my wife's and mine who is a retired Admiral.

Okay, we need to clean up a few things here.

First, occupation is not a protected category for hate crimes. So picking a victim due to your hate of that occupation does not add to the base crime.

Second, the media did not point out race because there is no reported evidence of a racial motivation here.

Third, the reporting of "dark complected" was I suspect when the perp was still at large, thus the police asking for public help in finding the perp. But this is a guess.

Okay, now back to fact and logic-free outrage...

They need a GFY button on this site.

Wait, folks. I need to clarify something: Every comment I have made in this thread relates solely to this case. I have not once in this thread commented on general media biases. Please re-read my posts to confirm.

Let's be honest. He probably wouldn't have walked up and murdered a black cop.

You willing to expand on this?

The media should have pointed out race because there is/was a suspect on the loose and it is clear from the surveillance video that the suspect is black. "Dark complected" is too vague and could have meant somebody from any race.

Beyond that, given recent events in the area (protests due to black activist committing suicide in police custody Prairie View, TX) and the randomness and cold-blooded nature of this incident, it is very possible that the suspect was seeking white police officers for revenge. This wasn't a shootout. The suspect, unprovoked, approached the officer from behind and shot him in the back multiple times. The suspect walked away, turned back and fired more shots into the dying officer- multiple people witnessed the events.

I'm not saying the media should have immediately painted this as a hate crime, but the fact that the race of the suspect, as of 1 pm today, STILL isn't being given is asinine. Especially when you consider that if the roles had been reversed and the cop popped the black guy execution style, all headlines would be identifying the victim by race and the narrative of the articles would paint the event as a hate crime regardless of any evidence to support it.

So if the races were reversed in this instance, you don't think it would be getting round the clock coverage? That Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton wouldn't get involved? That there wouldn't be all sorts of protests happening?

If you don't think that's the case, you're delusional.

Those in law enforcement worry this could be the latest in a rash of racially-charged retaliatory shootings.

"It's scary as hell. They're shooting just because you're wearing a uniform," he said.

"It is time for silent majority in this country to support law enforcement," Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson said at a news conference Saturday afternoon. "What happened last night is an assault on the very fabric of society. It is not anything we can tolerate."

"The guy who killed him was a coward. He was executed in cold blood or he would have never stood a chance," he said.

He added: "Something is going on in this county. It seems like everyone's out for cops. ... Cops don't deserve this at all," Jones said.

Perhaps all the events of this week will lead to a thoughtful discussion on mental health issues and gun control.
Maybe Obama will come out and give a heartfelt sermon about respecting the law enforcement community. Particularly addressing the black community and admonishing them for proving stereotypes. Addressing the left and the media for continually making everything about race simply to promote the democrats agenda for votes and power.

Nah, he is a douche. He will simply continue to fan racial flames for power and votes. ****ing loser.

I don't know to what degree things like that would be happening (seems like sort of a mixed-motivation for agitators/protestors when a black guy, but a cop, gets killed), but, yes, I think there would be more coverage and perhaps protests/agitation. (Again, "so you don't think..." just confuses me, as I have said nothing like that in this thread.) Tension and drama are good for ratings, and it is what the audience wants (proven by the ratings). It is also good for Big Race.

Do you think he would have shot a black cop?

The killer could be Obama's brother!

The Black lives matter cause died this weekend!
Only MSNBC will give them coverage! and that is changing!

Unfortunately I don't think cops will think twice now about pulling the trigger. Feeling that they are targets of the dark completed race.
