Bluder leads team to Final Four in her 23rd year as coach........

If we’re going out to hire a coach who’s gotten hot at a smaller school..then we have evidence of Alford, Lick, and…..Fran! I don’t believe we should spend the money, go through a rebuild, and end up in the same boat we are currently in.
Remind me where Lute coached prior to coming to Iowa?

Let's focus on that potential instead of the lesser outcomes 😉

Okay....and that was over 40 years ago that we landed, what I consider, an elite coach....a guy that took us to the Final 4 and then we couldn't keep him.

When we focus on potential........okay then we're rolling the dice on what we "think" is the potential for that coach.......

If you’ve read my posts completely….. I have said IF we can hire a coach that has proven they can win at the highest levels….then I’m on your team.

I'm telling you. Ben McCollum.

Hey guys, if you want change, stop buying tickets and going to games. Simple as that.

Loser talk. Many programs take a risk when they can see their program has hit the ceiling. Sometimes it fails and you have to try again. That’s the way it goes. Be afraid of being worse than mediocre is lazy and pathetic. We have too many resources to settle for the product we are consistently getting. The women have shown us, if you put a great product, the fans will invest. Give us Fran, fans grow apathetic and spend their time and money elsewhere.
Just ask Nebraska (in football) about mediocrity after firing Bo Pelini (which they should have done because of his them against us mentality that was toxic to the fanbase.) Some people said he had to go because all he could win was 9 games a year and that a monkey could win 9 games a year at Nebraska. Seven? years later and with out a winning record Nebraska has hired Rhule who I think may be able to finally turn things around.

Rhule is a big name coach and I agree with Perryhawk. When Fran leaves or retires he needs to be replaced by a big name coach. What Fran has accomplished at Iowa has been consistent and he has taken us to the NCAA tournament almost every year. His players have also been great student athletes that have represented the University of Iowa very well.

I looked him up....VERY impressive winning percentage (.811) and born in Iowa City, etc......but it's still a gamble. He has not coached or played D1 basketball.....and that is significantly different than NW Mo State. Not saying he wouldn't possibly be the next great coach.....but it is a gamble.

What about the Coach at Florida Atlantic? Dusty May....

At her age, I wonder how many Iowa fans thought that she had peaked a few years ago (or maybe 10 years ago).......and would never get a team this far?
something that gets lost in this:
how many different teams have made the final 4, 8, 16 in womens basketball the past 23 years vs mens.

I don’t remember the last time I went to Carver for a men’s game. And I won’t be returning until Fran is gone. His teams lack the toughness and tenacity to succeed in the tourney, always has. Plays his kids way too much….and does not represent the university well on the court. You can get away with his sideline antics if you have the resume to back it up, he doesn’t.

I’m planning to but season tickets for Bluder’s bunch next year.
