Bobby Knight says Ted Cruz’s lack of basketball knowledge shows he's unprepared to be president.

Asked Friday on Fox News whether he ever heard a basketball hoop called a "ring," the legendary Indiana coach replied, "I don't think I have."

“A guy that would come into this state and think that we played with rings instead of baskets is not a guy that’s very well prepared to do a hell of a lot,” Knight said.

Cruz on Tuesday called a basketball hoop a “ring” in Indiana, drawing widespread derision.

He joked Wednesday that the term would have “horrified” his old high school basketball coach, adding that his campaign would have him “run laps” for the error.

Knight said Friday he believes Donald Trump is the presidential candidate most ready to step into the White House.

“I consider myself more than anything else to be an American, and there’s nothing I would rather do in my lifetime than help the United States,” he said.

Cruz should just take his football bat and go home.

Well, that seals it for me! Seriously, of all the reasons that Cruz is unfit for the presidency, this is about the silliest one I can imagine. But then, while he may have forgotten more about basketball than I have ever known, Bobby Knight wouldn't be the first person I would consult for political opinions.

It's just another dumb thing to say by Cruz. His perfect running mate would be Palin. Actually, I'm not sure he ISN'T Sarah Palin.

But Bobby Knight understands Indiana. I've got a handful of friends from that state and they all still worship Knight like a god.....

Knight was a good endorsement for Trump, but I think he went a little to far when he said he believed Trump would be great because, like Truman, he believed he would drop the bomb. Even Trump looked a little nervous over that comment.

If Cruz made a major wrestling mistake while pandering to a pro-wrestling Iowa crowd? We would be saying the same things. I agree with Knight. Anyone who is that out of touch with common things shouldn't be president. I've never heard basketball ring in my entire life.

WHAT?!!!!!!

Perhaps the discomfort came when Knight suggested by dropping the bomb Truman saved "billions" of American lives

To get picky, it's not really a basket either.

Bobby Knight is a living legend in Indiana and citizens of
that state admire him. Bobby phoned Donald Trump and
asked if he could campaign for him in Indiana. Bobby and
Donald both like to tell it like it is and want America to get
back on track after the Obama debacle of 8 years.

Bobby tells it like it is?

Lets take his rape comments...

''I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it.''

I will agree that he has many similarities with Trump. They both say stupid crap without thinking critically.

The first game of basketball was played with a peach basket nailed to the wall, so the term basket goes back to the first game of basketball ever played.

They put a ladder by the basket so you could climb up and retrieve the ball. It finally occurred to someone to cut a hole in the bottom of the basket. That allowed players to poke the ball out with a pole.

I'm guessing that "finally" took about ten minutes....

If I want a chair thrown or someone choked out I will be interested in what Bobby Knight has to say. When it comes to political matters not so much.

The number one thing Knight and Trump have in common is they both have oversized egos, they are a-holes, and they are narcissists. "Telling it like it is", is also code for evoking a Pavlovian response from the bottom tier of the electorate.

This. The guy threw a flower vase across a room that shattered above a secretary's head. Seems like the typical guy who would go for Trump. I hope Knight appears a lot in public for Trump so Republican women can decide to vote for Hillary, or stay at home on election night.

I remember watching a show about this on the History Channel and I'm pretty sure sacrifice was involved after the game was over.

Yeah, that was the story. I walked around this court at Chitzen Itza, pretty interesting site.....

IIRC, they had to kick a ball the size of a softball through that opening, and the first team to score won. As was mentioned, sometimes the "captain" of the losing team was sacrificed following.
