Bogus BS

Yes, her behind the back toss was just a delay of game. I’m surprised they ever got the ball back. I mean, it’s not like the ball was already back on the court by the time the official called the technical for such an egregious delay.

No to mention she put the ball exactly where the refs need it, since free throws were coming

I think two things can be true: First, you don't call that technical, period. Especially since it had zero impact on the game and it was a total judgement of her supposed intentions. Second, if you're Clark with three fouls, you probably shouldn't give the refs an ounce of reason to call something meaningless like that. Translated: leave the ball alone.

You can still have a delay of game on a deadball. If a defending player for example crosses the inbound line on an inbound play I believe that is called a delay of game and technical is awarded. This can be called even if clock is stopped. The player or team gets 1 warning, and the 2nd time it is a delay of game.
A coach being on the floor during play is a technical as well…..surprised these refs missed a call or two there…

The refs get paid a lot less for the women's game and are generally much worse than the men's refs. This is WCBB unfortunately and par for the course, and it's been this way a long, long time.

Go away

Provide proof please

Two Division 1 conferences told The Associated Press they plan to equalize pay, and another is considering it. Others are resisting change, even though the impact on their budgets would be negligible.

Associated press article from Aug. 23, 2022 said ncaa will pay women and men tournament referees the same. Some conferences have different pay scales for men and women’s games during the regular season. Men’s games generate more revenue. The men’s game with bigger, stronger and faster players is tougher to officiate.

Exactly the point. If you're good enough you're going to referee men's games, which puts you in that pipeline. That means most of the good ones are doing that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you guys for the most part. I think the T on Clark was absolutely egregious.
I don't understand why the rule would state that a technical for a "delay of the game" variety should ever be on the individual. Seems to me it should just be a bench T.

You DO NOT call that ever. EVER. EVER EVER!
Bullshit. When I played in high school many, many years ago I got called for it. I didn't get a T but I had a very irritated ref in my face poking his finger in my chest and said if I did it again I would get the T.

I had a developed a habit of slapping the ball out of bounds as it came through the net. I'd gotten by with it before but this ref jumped my ass. Delay of game. You get one warning, next one is a T. Iowa had already had a warning earlier.

From what I've seen the men's refs are very little, if any, better than the women's. But I'm old. Maybe I just don't understand the game anymore. Maybe there's been rule changes I don't know about.

Like, climbing over an opposing player's back for a rebound is now OK. Like, camping in the lane for 10 or 15 seconds is OK. Like, hacking, chopping and grabbing is OK.

I'm not up to date.

Exactly. As smart as she is, as much basketball as she's played, I'm confident Caitlin Clark knows that. She was pissed and frustrated and did something dumb.

THE BENCH DIDN'T THROW THE BALL OOB!!!

Jesus Christ! Have any of you ever played this goddam game? This your first time watching it?

Now calm down just a bit - I said I disagreed with the rule that a player gets a T for a 2nd delay of game call. Which is what the referees said was the reason for the T. She didn't get a T for "throwing" the ball. When you calm yourself maybe you can admit you overreacted just a tad.

Missed?! There's a twitter post of the ref pushing her out of the way so she could see the court. Refs standing out of bounds and the crazy coach is flipping out on the court in front of her. Shoves her back to see the court. They didn't miss not seeing it, they chose to ignore the infraction.

Honest question, when was Iowa’s/Clark’s first warning for delay of game?

Sorry forgot 🙄

While they shouldn't have seen it called before in some key situations in other games. Some refs are very by the book, when they should let some things go.
Those officials yesterday were far from by the book. 3 seconds is in the book, coaches on floor is in the book, contact with an official is in the book, and contact above the shoulders is in the book. They ignored the book.

I don't think so.
