Boiler here

i don't usually go to other team's forums. I just wanted to congratulate your team on poise and heart. Many teams would've given up at half. Well played.
Thanks for the classy. That's very tough to lose that way...good luck up until Iowa.

Thanks for the classy post. Ironically, at half-time I decided to post on the PU forum after the game congratulating your team on how impressive your team was. I figured Fran was going to make some adjustments including more pressure defense but certainly didn't see this coming.

Thanks! You come with respect, you get respect....and a "Like" :D

Odd game.

Hawks got a little lucky that Boilers couldn't hit anything in second half.

Purdue needs to get their ball handling figured out and they'll be a very tough out in march.

Well done sir. Truly two different games. I never would have thought we could have pulled off the defense we did against Hammonds. He is the real deal. Really like his game. Our guys certainly came out tougher in the second half.

OP, you are a gentleman. That was a tough home loss after a great first half for your Boilers. Never did I think the Hawkeyes would be able to come all the way back. Good luck the rest of the way. May both black and gold teams have a great conference season and a long run in the dance. BTW, the last time Iowa made the final four (1980), Purdue did, too. Let's do that again this season.

Just wanted to come over here and echo the OP. You guys were amazing in the second half and gained a fan in me. If Purdue can't win the BIG this year I hope the Hawks do. That Peter Jok guy is freak of nature. Our guys looked scared to death to go up against the length and athleticism you guys have on the perimeter in the 2nd half. Good game. Gained a lot of respect from me for that 2nd half. Good luck the rest of the way.

Thanks Purdue fans. It's been one classy post after another coming before the game, and these congrats posts are icing on the cake. Best of luck to you guys against anyone but us.

Thanks for the post. Keep in mind, Iowa was up 20 and still lost to then #3 ISU. Fast forward and they've beaten #1 MSU and #14 Purdue. Purdue will learn and be better from it.

Tough to post what you did Luck...well done.

I thought your perimeter shooters got afraid to shoot in the second half...once a few were missed...open shots were passed up. Of course, live by the three, die by the three...

Purdue has some good talent...

As others have said, thanks for the classy post. As well as you guys were playing in the first half, I was only hoping we could make it respectable in the second.

We'll see you guys in Iowa City later this month, and then let's play again in the B1G Tournament Championship game, okay? And then maybe again in Houston in April?

Boiler up!

OP, this was a miracle win for Iowa. After scoring only
20 points in the first half, the Hawkeyes score 50 in the
second half. I credit part of this victory to having 4 Senior
starters who have experience when the chips are down.
Purdue will have a lot to say on who wins the Big Ten
Season Title.

If it makes you feel better, I think Purdue is as good as anyone we've played and I love your upside. I think you'll get us in Carver, but I'm really enjoying this win.

Pretty lucky win..I mean they earned the 2nd half, but that deficit was big. I was thinking we might split with Purdue, so nice to have one in bank. Very good chance Purdue learns from this and steals one at Carver.

You guys are big...but I think you got exposed on ball handling/guard play.

I'll tell you what. We needed that win tonight badly. I certainly wasn't expecting it. But most importantly, it's great to see good sportsmanship after that crap from the Stanford band yesterday.

Thank you for renewing my faith. Very classy posts by Purdue fans and I respect the hell out of you guys. Good luck the rest of the way and I really do think you guys will take us to the wood shed at Carver. I hope not, but I suspect payback will be on the minds of your players.

Thanks again.

The percentages actually evened out pretty much. PD came in hitting 35% from 3 and hit 32% for the game.

Thanks for the classy post and the OP's too.

I am as surprised as you guys are. I thought we were dead down 19 and even when we came back I doubted our ability to close it out given your team and the energy expended.

We think we have a good team but not an elite team. We have had big problems closing out games this year and past seasons against good teams like yours. We lost 3 heartbreakers already this season. A couple of minutes from being unbeaten.

We also know what it's like to have a huge lead and lose as we had highly ranked Iowa State down 20 in the second half on the road and were up 8 with two minutes and 6 with a minute only to lose. It stinks and is so frustrating.

Long season to go with many, many games left. We have a tough schedule so losses are coming. You guys have a truly great team with a ton of potential so I expect you will battle for the top of the B1G. Will be rooting for you guys as well as our fellow conference members to go far in the tourney when that time comes.

Defense was much better in the second half and Purdue was on fire in the first, no luck involved. Jok and Sapp were really pressuring the ball.

Surprised at the classiness from our hated rivals. I do think we are a team that matches up well with Purdue. Our length and athleticism makes it tough on their perimeter guys to get it into the bigs in good positions to score.

For the Purdue folks reading who don't know the story, Jok was rated as high as the #1 player in his class at a young age (maybe 8th grade?). He then blew out his knee, so the big boys of college basketball had other healthier targets and moved on. His athleticism/explosiveness maybe isn't what it could have been, but he's always had the game.

pu has a lot of talent and will do well as the season progresses.

That was an incredible comeback win. Would have never thought they had it in them after the very poor offensive first half by every Iowa player not named Uthoff.

IMHO this win was even bigger than the msu win.

If you read between the lines you can really see the hatred these rivals have for each other. Dont let all of the kind posts by both sides fool you.

I think that was already a spot of weakness for them. That was in my keys to victory in the game thread. Just seeing Purdue play 2 times and looking at their team stats, for as good as defensive team they are, having a negative turnover margin stood out to me as how we win the game.

My 2 keys were battle with them on the boards to limit 2nd chance points, and turn them over so we can get easy scores in transition... because if you try to play Purdue in a 1/2 court game they will beat you into submission.

Iowa may have given the league a formula on how to play Purdue. I would expect you to see a lot of pressure the next few games.

Unfortunately if Clemons is out we are just a few whistles on Mike away from being in worse shape at point then you are.

Good sportsmanship in 2016. Great to see. If Painter can teach his guys to spread the court and pass to break the press, the Boilers are still going to be one of the favorites in the B1G.
