Boo ESPN Classic

Haha, don’t hate me, but I ask as an Illini fan. I was at that game, and the papers estimated there were anywhere from 4,000 to 5,000 Illini fans in Carver. I have been trying to get a copy of that game ever since, wish I had ESPN Classic! Lol
You need to find the one where your students dressed as Iowa fans, then revealed the Orange Crush when settled in.

I always say that was the day Iowa bball hit rock bottom. It was in Lickliter's last year. Arena maybe half full if that with barely anyone behind the baskets except the couple hundred members of the Orange Crush. They were chanting towards the end of the game after what would be another Iowa loss about this is our house. I just remember thinking after that game there is no way we can bring Lick back for another year and luckily my prayers were answered a few months later.

That was the night Iowa played in the Orange Bowl, 2010 (2009).

Without looking, I’ll bet my posting career on Eddie Hightower officiating that 2005 Iowa/ILL mentioned above.

I had lost interest in Iowa basketball so much by that time that I wouldn't have been able to name one player on the team other than maybe Gatens, much less tell you when the team was playing.

I can remember exactly one time being overly excited in the Lick days. When Cully Payne hit the 3/4 court shot against Texas. Iowa was still down over 10 at that point, but I remember jumping out of the chair after he made it.

I still watched every game in those days, but it was as apathetic as you could imagine. You really felt bad for some of those kids. Gatens, Cole, Fuller, Johnson.

I believe you’re thinking of 2010 (when they were behind the basket), but that has happened at least four times I’ve been to Carver, haha. Not this year, though! I actually think you guys are set to go on a bit of a run, I like your squad (and am very traumatized from last year still ... I attended both massacres where you guys made like 90% of your shots.).

Me too. Though my memory is that shot tied the game at halftime, and maybe the game was in Kansas City? Anyway, Cole and the Hawks upsetting Purdue was a singular good moment (unless that was Fran coaching by then?).

Your memory is pretty good. I can’t tell the halftime score from the vid but it looks close. Iowa may even grabbed the lead. Unfortunately, lost by 25.

That Purdue win was Fran’s first year. PU was ranked 6th. Lick was 0-5 or 0-6 against Purdue as far as I can tell.

I'm telling you, somebody at ESPN Classic is either salty that Iowa keeps winning, or is a big Michigan State fan....that also doesn't like Iowa.

Currently airing is the 1985 MSU-Iowa game that we lost by 2. Then they're gonna replay the 1983 MSU game.......

This wedding is horsesh**.
