Bosa Targeting Play

The look on Urban’s face when the ref says “#97” and “targeting” was priceless.

I hate OSU I love Iowa and yes by the book that was a targeting penalty and the call was made correctly but...

Both players were moving forward and yes Bosa left his feet to get close to Stanley but I wouldn't say he launched himself or label it a dirty play ...just like in basketball if you leave your feet bad things are going to happen I didn't see anything dirty at all .
Wow -- that's hard to believe, because 1) he clearly launched himself, and Griese described exactly that during the replay, 2) the only reason he'd head butt our QB was to inflict some kind of harm, and 3) it couldn't have been more obvious from my perspective. Shoot -- the guy didn't even lift his arms to even feign that he was trying to tackle Stanley. It was in every way a dirty play. I don't see how this escapes some folks.

To me the dumbest part of Boza’s move is there is probably 15 camera in the game. No way you get away with that crap.

It was the correct call. Bosa wanted to make an impact shot and it would've been legal had he not hit helmet to helmet as the hit would not have been considered late.

But it was the fact that Bosa stuck his head forward and basically headbutted Stanley, with no other part touching him, that drew the flag.

It wasn't a vicious hit, but by the letter of the rule it was the right call.....and a really stupid play by Bosa.
,

Agree here. He clearly saw his only chance of affecting the play was to impede the ball or the throwing motion. To do that, you keep your head up - you don't blindly drop your eyes and "hope" your hand gets in the way. The only reason for Bosa to drop his head like that was to try to punish - and that is EXACTLY what the targeting rule was put in place for. Yes, sometimes a "football play" as some call it gets caught up in the definition, but this was not such a play. If it was they would have cracked facemasks at worst and it would have been a no call. He didn't and paid the price. Right call (although I don't think Bosa leaving really changed what was happening - UM was already almost broken by that time judging by his body language, JTB was on the edge of collapse, our defense was getting in-game adjustments going, and BF's offensive game plan was gaining momentum)
