Bowl game sponsorships have jumped the shark

Shoot me now...
I can't afford to waste the ammo right now so you'll just have to wait. In the meantime, I'll add that bowl game sponsors jumped the shark in the 1980s.......................................

They’re not going anywhere so you might as well embrace and enjoy it. 90% of bowl sponsorships I won’t remember, and most of them I don’t even recognize the corporation or have any idea what they do. But I’ll always remember the Pop Tarts Bowl. I think this is hilarious.
I think the point is once it becomes a fact that the overwhelming majority have stopped trying, it's time to take away their toys (i.e. Bowl games).

We've reached that point in time.........

This may be a “two types of people” thing. In one group are people like OP who see this is yet another round of piss in the bowl tradition cheerios. In the other, you have people like me who realize any non-playoff bowl has become a farcical exhibition, and fully embrace hilariously stupid gimmicks like this.

But see the problem with that is, if given the choice, if it's all the same, you'd put a stop to this just like everyone else.

And if you didn't, then when we do come to put a stop to it, we'll put you down as well.

"Meh, whatever, I guess. Wait did you say put me down?"

You heard me......

Anyone have any idea what Pop Tarts pays to sponsor a bow game?
Saw this online. Didn't see anything more recent.

"The Pop-Tarts Bowl sponsorship cost around $2 million, but the brand earned a reported $12.1 million in media exposure from the 2023 game. This was more than six times the amount the brand paid to sponsor the game."

“Welcome to Pop Tarts/Nile Kinnick Stadium, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes!” Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Each season ticket holder will receive a certificate to a FREE Pop Tart at the Homecoming game! Or……..Free Pop Tarts every time the Hawks score 45 points or more…..??? (Or double digit first downs in a game?)

Ad psychology says you will.
I have never bought a single thing or service based on their sponsorship of a bowl game. Probably because I don’t recognize most of the sponsors or have any idea what products or services they represent. The ones I tend to remember are the ridiculous ones, like pop tarts bowl, so I don’t blame these companies for their ridiculous presentations.
