Not to hijack the thread but on an Iowan-related note, David Johnson is also tearing it up with the Cardinals.

All the BS excuses of why Iowa didn't offer a full ride( lazy, grades, takes plays off) all were said by people who had no clue what they were talking about & had never seen David play in person. He was the best the MAC has seen since Tavian & will easily surpass anything an Iowa born skill position player will ever accomplish since Roger Craig... & to think they wanted to Gray Shirt this kid, unreal

Yeah ....I also laugh at all of the people on here that truly have no clue about David Johnson ....for instance as mentioned. Grades being an issue ...wrong ....lazy....wrong! Taking plays off ...hell he was on the field for almost every play ...yep he took a play off once in a while! I remember people saying late in his career at UNI he would never cut it at Iowa ....I laugh! Some dummy's said only people from Clinton thought he was good enough because people in Clinton didn't know what real talent looked like! I laugh at them all ....2 games into his pro career he has his jersey in the "Hall Of Fame". I do know that anything can happen moving forward you never know how long anyone may last in the NFL but ......his is one of 2 or 3 best ever to come out of the state of Iowa! Go hawks!!

It's obvious the iowa coaches totally dropped the ball on David Johnson, he would have been the hawks best player.

As for wegher? I wish him well and hope he has a tremendous career. Glad he has over come his early difficulties.

There must have been something that made everyone "drop the ball." For those people that offer sheets mean everything to, his was less than impressive. He was even recruited to UNI as a LB.

David Johnson was a big big miss. I really don't understand how anyone couldn't figure this guy had huge upside from high school. I think we are better now, but evaluating skill position players in high school has never been our strong suit. David Johnson was the best player on the field in most every game he played his last two years at UNI...and it wasn't even close. It was nice to see him give Wisconsin fits too.

What's your address I'll send him one, how's that? Hey, not trying to bash on kf, think he is as good as guy as you can find and really like what he's doing this year. He's proving he is willing to change things up some to make the hawks a better team. I like, they're fun to watch again!!

Life is funny. If the kid was the special talent coming out of high school all of you claim he would have landed somewhere bigger than uni Perhaps not getting offers at the big schools motivated the kid to work harder and put a chip on his shoulder. Maybe he would have been great at Iowa and maybe not. You have no idea.

Happy for the kid that he is doing something he loves at a high level but let's not pretend that this outcome could have been predicted or should have been picked up by the staff at Iowa. It has worked out for David Johnson. Good for him but that's it.

Btw, and I agree that many teams including Iowa missed on Johnson and that retrospectively it is unfortunate...........he really did take plays off. And no it wasn't just because he was on the field "all the time".

Oh well.

Hey, not trying to bash on kf
He's an inspiration and one of the best to wear the black and gold.

Never really got this. He drank, took drugs, quit and now he is in the NFL. That doesn't really inspire me. Kids that come in, work hard, stay in school, stay out of trouble and make the NFL inspire. He's just got great athletic ability.

It's like those kids that are complete F ups their whole life and when they get out of jail and get a job, there parents want to throw a party for them. I always thought it demeaned all the kids that did it right in the first place.

Best of luck to Brandon but his choices certainly don't inspire me.

It was satire.

For anyone who didn't think Johnson wasn't capable coming out of high school ....you should check out his High School highlight video on YouTube. He made most everyone look like fools trying to catch him!

Hello pamarcole. In this Brandon Wegher thread, David Johnson's high school highlight reel is pretty much a gold jacket, green jacket situation.

An impressive highlight tape? Go figure. I like the ones where they put the plays in where they missed the blitzing linebacker or when they fumble.

It always makes me happy to see Iowa kids do well no matter what college they attended. They represent what is special about the State of Iowa and what it means to live here.

Obvious that Iowa and every other D-1 school? How did Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri (and Iowa State) miss such an obvious high school phenom?
