USC drops 15 spots to completely out after a road loss to Minnesota

Michigan drops 14 spots after a road loss to UR Washington

Alabama drops 6 in a road loss to worst team in SEC Vanderbilt (loss to GA ST Panthers few weeks ago)

Tennessee drops 4 in a road loss to an Arkansas team that would lose to Minnesota.

It's no surprise the rankings are a joke but damn not even trying to disguise it

It might be the old eyeball test factoring in. USC and Michigan have looked like ass each time I’ve watched them.

Arkansas has been improving and would stomp Minnesota.

That said, yes the SEC is overrated like always.

Vandy lost by a field goal in overtime at Missouri last week, and beat Alabama this week. They aren’t that bad.

Missouri got boat raced by A&M. Who lost to ND at home. Who lost to Northern Illinois. Who isn't very good.

I was at the ND/aTm game, QB for aTm was barfing on sidelines and their offense looked horrible. ND looked pretty good in the second half.

New head coach and O coordinator.

They looked outstanding versus #9 Mizzou, offense was rolling. Week to week anything can happen.

Hmmm.....ever think that maybe it being the second loss for USC and Michigan vs the first loss for Bama and Tenn MIGHT have something to do with it? The loss quantity bias in the rankings is real

I will let someone else explain all the logic errors in that argument.

Missouri lost 41-10 to Texas A&M

Texas A&M lost to Notre Dame 23-13, also only beat Bowling Green by 6.

Notre Dame lost 16-14 to Northern Illinois.

Northern Illinois lost to Buffalo and North Carolina St. Other than beating ND they have beat 1-5 UMass (who only has 1 win against a FCS school and it was a 4 point game) and Western Illinois that might be the absolute worst team in college football who is also a FCS team.

While games are certainly not transitive it does matter for rankings and especially the computer polls.

I'm not sure where my argument is flawed...

If UGA beat Bama, and Bama lost to Vandy, there's a very strong chance the Tide would be unranked now (or at the very least, barely hanging on).

Meh. B1G will get probably its top 4 programs into the playoffs with every opportunity to expose any rankings bias. This is one reason expanding the playoffs was necessary.

Bama and Tenn should not be top 10 after the quality of those losses imo.

Vanderbilt lost to Georgia STATE who just this past week lost to Georgia Southern. I don't believe any of the teams discussed here have a quality of loss that bad.

Ive been saying this for years.

Wait until basketball season. Most polls have 5-6 Big 12 teams in Top 10-12.
Same concept as football, it's all based on what conferences the TV networks are partnered with. CBS just announced an expanded partnership with Big 12 basketball this year so of course they will want those shiny top 25 numbers next to as many teams as possible to sell hype for the games they broadcast. To be fair the SEC is not alone in this, the Big 10 has reaped the benefit of this for football as well.

If people can't see this is how it works I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Maybe all the money sloshing around in players pockets for those top teams is causing some major distraction?

Michigan and USC are two horrible examples to try and prove your point. Both have two losses early in the season. Tennessee and Alabama lost their first games.

Do better.
