Sure to be a best seller!:

Terry Branstad is an avowed Iowa history buff, and now his life story and record-setting tenure as governor have been recorded for the annals of state history.

Branstad’s biography, titled “Iowa’s Record Setting Governor: The Terry Branstad Story,” will be published in December, the governor announced Tuesday at a news conference with the book’s author, illustrator and publisher.

Branstad said the goal is to have the book published by Dec. 14, which is when he will break the country’s record for longest-serving governor.

Branstad the book does not dive deep into politics and issues, but focuses more on his personal story.

“It’s not an effort to write history on various issues. It’s really a biography telling about my life and of the influences growing up on the farm, the work ethic I gained from that, the great teachers that influenced me to want to go into a public service career,” Branstad said. “It does deal with issues, but it isn’t designed to give my viewpoint on issues. In fact, a lot of times (what’s in the book are) media reports on issues that came up over the years.”

The book was written by Iowa writer Mike Chapman, a Waterloo native and former newspaper editor and publisher. According to his website, Chapman has written 26 books.

The book was illustrated by Iowa artist Brian Duffy, who is known for his political cartoons.

It will be published by Des Moines-based Business Publications, which publishes the Business Record.

All proceeds from the book will go into a new fund that will benefit historical preservation projects throughout the state, Branstad said.

“Obviously, (history) is a great passion of mine,” Branstad said.

One thousand limited edition hardcover editions will be sold for $29.95. Paperback copies will sell for $19.95 and an e-book version for $9.95.

Branstad asked Chapman to write the book; he has been working on it since 2013.

Chapman said he interviewed nearly 50 people across the state, read thousands of newspaper articles and researched the exhibit dedicated to Branstad at Mansion Museum in his hometown of Forest City.

Chapman said he was most struck by Branstad’s work ethic, comparing him in that respect to Iowa wrestling legend Dan Gable. Chapman said he also enjoyed unearthing stories from Branstad’s past, including that he was an honorable mention all-conference football player in high school and that in eighth grade he told his teacher and classmates that he wanted to be governor one day.

“In all truthfulness, this is one of the hardest tasks I’ve ever tackled, but one of the most gratifying,” Chapman said. “I’m a huge fan of the man Terry Branstad. And I think you will be, too, after you read the book.”

Branstad said his office will hold a book release event closer to the publish date. He said if there is interest, he will hold book-signing events across the state.

So I guess now the big question is who's going to play him in the movie?

I imagine Scorsese will direct, so probably De Niro.

Worthless book about a worthless human being.

Work ethic compared to Dan Gable? Must be a fiction account. I hope it discusses transparency and discusses Branstad's business dealings and certain family situations. For the movie, I would suggest they use the same effects on his speech which was used by Marlon Brando in the Godfather.

I believe Mr. Gable can more accurately account for his working hours than can Teflon. Gable's efforts as a competitor and as a coach have proven results......a win/loss record. Teflon"s record is all subjective.

I think Matt Damon should play him in the movie. Something like this:

I hope it includes the amusing anecdote where the Branstad staffer got into a tussle with the Tauke staffer. What a dustup!

Or the absolutely hilarious time in which Branstad's son killed 2 innocent people AND Branstad swept it under the rug.

That shows leadership!

Swept under the rug? It was on tv and in the papers!

Your hate of the greatest governor in the history of the State of Iowa makes you look like a pathetic little man.

Tell me, Branstad asskisser, what kind of punishment did his son serve for killing 2 innocent people?

End of discussion.
You idiot! A 16 year old kid who had only been driving 3 or 4 weeks has an unfortunate accident on a two lane highway and you think he should get the death penalty? He wasn't even old enough to shave, he was in 10th grade for Gods sake!

Eric was ultimately charged with a misdemeanor traffic violation and ordered to pay a $15 fine he was driving 10 mph over the speed limit, that my friend was entirely up to the police and the court system.
Dallas County Attorney, David Welu said of his decision to only press a traffic charge, “filing only traffic charges in fatal accidents is common, provided drunken, drugged, or reckless driving was not involved.”

He killed 2 innocent people due to his own negligence and his dad got it swept away.

I'm obviously a smarter AND better person than you so this discussion has ceased to be fruitful. Go ahead and continue with your hero worship of that asshole. You seem to be just as worthless a person as him.

Thank God the voters of Iowa get to cast their approval of Terry every 4 years and man oh man they keep sending him to the Governors chair.

As I stated earlier you must be a sad little man with a sad little life. Thank God the voters of Iowa get to cast their approval of Terry every 4 years and man oh man they keep sending him to the Governors chair.

Keep hating little man.
Once again, you have shown yourself to have limited intellectual abilities if you think Branstad is a good governor. Furthermore, if you believe his son was just deserving of only a misdemeanor and pitiful fine for killing 2 innocent people shows that you're a worthless human being.

I'm sure you would feel the same way if this happened to someone in your family, right? Since you're a worthless human being perhaps you would.

I just hope you haven't nor plan to procreate.

I'm not the judge so I can only go with what was dealt out by the legal system. He was only 16 yrs old, no drugs or alcohol or excessive speed involved and he had only been driving a few weeks.

Typical liberal resorting to name calling, lol!

You didn't answer the question. But, since I'm smarter than you and a better person than you I probably shouldn't expect it from you.

Furthermore, if you believe his son's "punishment" was justified that puts you squarely amongst a good number of liberals. Personally, I believe in punishment that fits the crime.

Personally I'll defer to the courts, you did support court decisions, please answer?

Eric parlayed slaughtering two people into a job with a "non-profit", who has views remarkably similar to his dad's. Marcus parlayed his lineage into a job on a state board that Branstad staffers will say with a straight face that he was the best qualified person to hold the job.

Bob, you are a hopeless troll, or someone ignorant of history. Eric Branstad got every break there was when he killed those folks, even as to who got airlifted from the scene of the accident.

"Greatest governor in the history of Iowa"? Really? Other than longeVity, what criteria do you use? What had Teflon done legislatively or administratively that you think qualifies him for this title?
I really think he has accomplished much less than Harold Hughes did in his four years as governor. He has accomplished next to nothing as compared to Robert Tay. Vilsack saved his bacon and was able to bend Iowa priorities in a more correct direction after Teflon floundered his first several, terms. Culver was probably a more transparent and honest governor than Branstad.
Again, I admit Teflon is very popular with Iowans. And again, I fail to u derstand the reason why. he is just a poop and he always has been. Imjust don't get it.

This would have to be the most boring biography in history. But, what a great gag gift! It'll be bigger than the whoopee cushion.

To all you Dems complaining about Branstad - you created this virus when you nominated the pathetic Roxanne Conlin. You found the one person living in the state who was less desirable than Terry. Own it!

There are two reasons for Branstad's serving as the longest governor. He followed the greatest governor in the state and has had the weakest opposition known to man. As for his son, because of his youth, I will defer to the police who investigated although had he been poor, his plight would most likely, have been much worse

Agreed that the Dems ran a lot of really bad candidates against Teflon. The only viable real opponent to run against him was Vilsack...and Terry saw what was going to happen and chose "to enter the private sector" so as to not get his ass whipped. Robert Ray and Tom Vilsack have been able to cover up a multitude of sins committed by Branstad.
