How and the heck does he get a 6th year and Ott can't get a 5th? He played in 5 of 13 games. Ott played in 6 of 14. Basically if he would have just rested his elbow instead of playing a few snaps in the Pitt game he would be back. Pretty ridiculous.

2011 played
2012 redshirted
2013 sat out all year with injury
2014 played
2015 played 5 games

I'm guessing his 2013 had something to do with the decision. Can't believe Iowa State landed him though

Bottom Line: If a player isn't going to see the field in a given year and you think he'll be worth keeping around later on, document that he was injured. Ya never know, he might get an extra year.

You can't believe Iowa State landed a 6th year player who is going to his 3rd school and has never been awarded any type of All-Conference nomination (not even honorable mention)? It seems like ISU is a very logical landing spot for someone of that caliber.

Love how they still include how he was a 4* prospect coming out of HS which 5-6 years later means very little. Clearly he didn't live up to that hype of his star ranking. And was he the guy whose dad was posting on here a few years ago, talking some trash about Iowa fans?

Grad transfer OL are usually hot commodities. Former Army All American out of HS and appeared to be a solid contributor for Minnesota when he was healthy. I mean he lettered at Ohio State as a true freshman. His dad played football at Iowa, his mom played basketball at Iowa and his brother played football at Michigan State. If he can stay healthy (which appears to be the issue here) it seems like a great addition, especially with ISU's OL situation

What were his other options?

Yet we never offered, looks like a good choice by KF..

People need to understand that the year directly before the additional year (5th/6th) is not the only determinant of the award of the extra year. This guy has been on football rosters 5 years but played only 3 years losing an entire year due to injury. That is 3 years participation and losing one or more years (less than 30% game participation) due to injury. Ott participated 4 years according to the same rules even if we do not like that fact. We pulled his red shirt more than halfway through his first year during a 4-8 campaign going no where. Had that not happened he'd be lining up for us this year regardless and if healthy.

See Dale Jones from the basketball team. Assuming he makes it back and makes it through the season he can apply for a 6th year despite playing this year.

Clown fans falling all over themselves over a often injured walk on.

Check.
can you tell us about all the honors folks saying Uthoff is better than Niang? Come on you spent all spring posting this daily. Come on boy you can do it if you try,,,,,,,,,,I feel sorry for hawk fans that this idiot is one of yours

Don't derail a football thread in the football forum with trash talk about basketball. You called someone an idiot but use excessive commas instead of periods, and have other grammatical errors.

You mean other than the Naismith Committee saying the ball grabber wasn't as worthy as Uthoff?

Why do isu grads always ignore what they don't like?

Yeah, I recall his dad was pretty butthurt over this kid not getting an Iowa offer and was on here for a while slamming the Hawks and KF.

Incredible delusion here among the Hawk fans. I don't go to Cyclone Fanatic, so I can't comment on the posts there, but the most optimistic thing I've seen about him on CR is that even if he only holds a blocking dummy, we need a body in the OL. Absolutely nobody is excited about him.

Yep ignore cryclown fanatic. Looney clown demands that the self proclaimed largest web site for isu grads doesn't count. There are several posts there boasting of Bobek. isu grads pick and choose what counts, what matters and what must be ignored.

There must be a class on this at isu. How else can they have such uniformity?

What kind of loser hangs out on another fans message board calling their fans delusional? Pot meet kettle.

Didn't you get the memo? LooneyClown is only here to defend what he feels are inaccuracies posted about little bro. Despite what facts are brought to bear that show exactly how isu, its coaches, players, AD and grads behave.

In this case, a wise and perceptive person dedicated to gently pointing out character flaws in the hope the advice will be taken and lead to personal improvement.

I'm surprised you had to ask.

Called it again. As predictable as the sun rising in the east. This is why clowns are to be laughed at and not taken seriously.

More please.

Knew his dad played football at Iowa but never heard his mom played bball. What was her name?

One of the explanations on CR is that he wasn't in the two-deeps. Seems a bit strange for a former starter, but there it is.

Clone, most don't mind the mind blowing optimism on CF. But when many count a Bobek or Foster a recruiting victory over Iowa, that's pure delusion. You're missing out on some good comedy from there.

This. Especially with Bobek being a walk on, its a complete no lose situation for ISU. If he bombs, whatever, you didnt waste a schollie. If he kills it, then it worked. I just get laughing, and Mill said, ISU fans pounding their chests over this kid, pretty much saying they got a 4 star kid over Iowa (Foster was the same).

Where did anyone say ISU got Bobek over Iowa?

I don't think Cyclone fans are saying they got Bobek over Iowa

but clown fans saying they got a walk on over anyone is hilarious. It is amazing the bung isu grads are willing to buy and then tout to others. I guess that is what happens when you win a whopping 8 games in 3 years.

By the time the season rolls around isu grads will be convinced yet again isu is destined for 6-7 wins this year. Same as the last 3. Just watch.

Very entertaining indeed.

I had seen some people on fanatic allude to it. To be fair, it was just a person or two. Most, as you said above, were kind of "meh" about it, and if anything, were excited about just having some extra depth.
