Speaking of Iowa State and humor, here's something funny. They've won two conference titles in history. In 1911 and 1912. Now THAT, is funny.

I think its more likely biased tribalism since it is ISU. If an Iowa site did this about ISU, people would think it was hilarious. Its a joke from a satirical ISU site and people are taking it personally.

This. The writer completely whiffed on the punch line. You choose a crappy place like Panchero's. They're "meh" at best and they also sponsor the stupid burrito lift. THAT is the name you use. Chipotle (whether you like em or not) is highly successful. Make it Panchero's and you have a funny bit which makes sense.
But who would expect a clone to have any sense for literary flair or humor.

1) If you follow the news, Chipotle has had a series of food poisoning issues. 200 people in Ohio earlier this month.
2) Seriously, using Pancheros makes this joke funny?
3) Chipotle just hired the ex-Taco Bell CEO because their model is in disarray. If we can’t agree that Taco Bell gives you the runs, we have no common ground.
No kidding, and you know the punch line to that? Both those titles were shared, haha!
