other than the outlier that is the Ohio State game BF has been completely unable to out coach opposing d coordinators of pretty much every team
I have to reluctantly agree with you.
Our offense is consistently near the bottom of D1 every year. This is nothing new.I didn't see the 1st half but two dropped balls in the 2nd half don't help.
I'm not defending Brian, but this is a collective effort. The Nate Stanley read option or whatever that was on 3rd and 9 was definitely a WTF call. I don't know. Hard to fathom why they are so bad since Ohio State. I don't get it.
Is it the place or the head coach? This is the place where offensive coordinators go to die.

Exactly, you are spot on.Exactly. Which is why it floors me when people start bitching about Iowa's latest OC as if he is the root of the problem. Lol.
There is a common denominator here, folks. And it isn't the guy in the press box wearing the headset and calling down plays. This is Kirk's baby. Plain and simple.
It was time when we rehired KOK - the mediocre at best OC we ran out of town. And then elevated BF. Kirk has no new ideas and actively hates the thought of change.
Between Kirk, BF and Polanski we have 3 coaches who either played or coached our Offensive Line and our line stinks.
Ferentz has never had any balls. His offenses are disgusting to watch.
Feel sorry for the players trying to execute his stupid plays.
Bingo.Anyone wonder why highly skilled recruits don't want to play in Iowa's scheme? If it's tough to watch imagine how it is to play in it.
And opposing defensive coordinators get street cred for Head coaching jobsThis is the place where offensive coordinators go to die.

I agree, BF is in over his head. But Phil Parker had his issues today, too. Not a good day to be an Iowa football coach.
Only with Iowa do two dropped passes put us in a hole we can't get out of.I didn't see the 1st half but two dropped balls in the 2nd half don't help.

I said last year that BF was named OC to take over after daddy retires. Book it, we're stuck with the Ferentz's for the next 25 years!
Polasek was never an O-line coach and was a qb as a player. Maybe he and BF should switch responsibilities.
