Spoiler alert from the podcast: Brian F punched a wall and broke his hand.

I LIKE IT!!!!! I was down on our offensive play calling but to find out he was that mad about it tells me if given enough time "passion" won't be a problem. Starts up front, no Kilroy I don't care they had 9 guys in the box the OC can/should scheme around it, those guys need to be the "bullies of the big10" and I think that's exactly what Brian expects from them.

I know you demand perfection from True FR, but these players weren't 5* players. I would love to get more 5* PLAYERS Like Epenesa. and more 4* players like Daniels, but right now these are Iowa's OL
LT 3* Jackson
LG Walk on Myer
C 4* Daniels
RG Walk on Renders
RT 3* Welsh

these are waiting in the wings
4* Wirff only by Rivals
4* Kallenberger by Scout and ESPN
4* Levi Paulsen and Landen Paulsen by Scout
this will be the last year a walk on should be a starter on the OL, in the 2019 class these have committed
4* OT Endres 6'6 285 lbs as a HS JR by 247 and ESPN.
4* OT Miller 6'6 315 lbs as a HS JR by 247 and ESPN.
just thinking about big they are now gets me thinking about how big they will be when they step foot on campus in June of 2019. in the 2018 class Iowa will have these to work with
6'8 OT Plumb
6'6 OT Ince
6'4 OG/C Render.

I don't care what some think or claim to know, playing merry go round on the OL because of injuries, does not = perfection.
Welsh a excellent OG BUT a below avg OT and you need avg to above avg on the OL to be a good OL. 1 below avg can screw up the whole mess.

Kilroy, Bob, herby... whatever your name actually is, I would love to drink a beer and watch a game with you. Your ability to go on the most obscure tangents is impressive. Not only did you discuss perfection, which only you has ever said anything about, you somehow found a way to post the star ratings and ages AGAIN as if anyone who is on this site doesn't know who our linemen are. I am reminded of the "frontier jibberish" scene from blazing saddles every time you post and foe that I thank you.

Render was not a Walk On. He was a 3* out of Indianola in the class of 2014

In an attempt to get this roughly back on track........ Anyone like or dislike out of the staff. Again, I am a huge fan as I think this is the opposite of Kirk and much needed "passion".

I like Brian so far, he had a bad day calling plays last week (and wasn't helped out at all by the players), it happens. Not sure this hand thing really is something I'd say I like hearing though. Paul Rhoads and Tim Brewster had passion, but I sure as hell wouldn't want them coaching here.

you would prefer the ho hum oh well approach. this reminds me of Hayden telling his team in the locker room that anybody that if any one was satisfied with a close loss that he would punch the 1st person that said it.

HF was a motivator that would not settle for moral victories, Brian is another that won't settle for moral wins. maybe you will settle for moral wins.

I don't believe we should be ultra critical with the line since it is a make shift line. Had we had Boettger and the original people starting, that would be a different story. But Jackson is Freshman, Wirf when playing is a Freshman and Welsh is a better guard then tackle. They show flashes of brilliance on one play, and show there age on the next. Growing pains people, same with our QB, it will all work itself out as the season goes.

I used to be on here a lot. That is DEFINITELY Kilroy. I can't remember the history bit he's had so many different user names it's crazy.

You can spot his posts a mile away. lol

Does anyone else see the irony in Kilroy saying he was all about HF not accepting moral victories, yet every thread he post in he mentions how everyone else is an entitled whiner because we expect perfection?
there is a difference between a coach not accepting moral victory and a bunch of nobodies on a msg boards, that whine like 5 year olds that just had their sucker taken from them

You sound like a Nebraska fan. *s are a fabrication of click bate specialists

Why should anyone concern themselves with the size/star rating of a player from 2 or 3 years ago, when we can all look at the offense and see shit. Pure unadulterated shit. 19 yards rushing with Akrum Wadley at RB. 19 yards rushing. Every time you get ready to post a response, I want you to say that sentence out loud. "19 yards rushing with Akrum Freaking Wadley at RB".

That actually brings up a good point. Star rankings are supposed to represent how quickly the person will be able to perform at the collegiate level. Once they are on the team they are completely useless.

Finally someone cracked the code. All this team has been missing is motivation.

Man and people say nobody has anything smart to contribute on this board.

Was Josey Jewell a 2* with an offer from Luther College? No freshman will give perfection regardless of stars. This kind of "analysis" is of very little value.

Jewell also redshirted, as did these as 4* recruits, OL Blythe, OL Walsh, DT Johnson, DT Ekakitie, 4* US Army AA Ward never started who just graduated in 2016, 5* OL Larson never played a down, 5* Doering career was riddled with injuries. so just because Wirff was a US Army AA does not = instant starter.

I like the passion! There's this idea that you have to be effective in the run game before play action works. Not True! With 9 guys in the box the D has committed regardless if you can gain 1 yard. Use play action and attack! Take what they gave us! We respond with shotgun too much. Shotgun shows we're passing and they drop back into coverage.
