The major broadcast networks have spent 114 minutes of airtime on Danelo Cavalcante, the illegal alien who escaped a Chester County, Pennsylvania prison on August 31 after being convicted of violently murdering his ex-girlfriend in front of her children. Yet throughout this veritable ocean of coverage, not a single person on any of these three networks has even once bothered to mention that Cavalcante entered this country illegally.

Entered US in 2019.

And??? I mean you could send him home but I would recommend we send him back to prison.

The problem with the whole he came here illegally thing is it plays into the right wings hands of portraying them as scary violent individuals by nature, when in reality if I remember right illegals on the whole are more law abiding than average Americans who were born here.

Again I tell you that if you want to reduce illegal immigration over the border (Most illegals are people who just overstayed a previously legal VISA) you should simply target the people who hire them ruthlessly. But you won't because the game is that we act all enraged and talk about building a thousand mile wall to fire up your base who often harbor racial hatred towards Latinos, but since we know a thousand mile wall would be pretty ineffective because ladders, your wealthy base who you really care about can still get their cheap labor.

The guy who employed the illegal who killed that young woman in Iowa, you know as well as I do that he was aware or strongly suspected his employee was illegal. But he didn't care cause cheap labor. That guy should have lost everything, should be rotting in prison and have his farm seized, sold and the proceeds distributed to the citizens in his county who might have had the opportunity for a job working on his farm. An opportunity he stole from them and let's be honest almost certainly continues to do so.

That employer was a big Republican donor too but I’m sure that has nothing to do with why Republicans don’t go after the employers.

I agree with most of this. Not sure I want to waste more U.S. resources, though...deport him back to someone else's prison.

We always tend to go after the wrong entity in this country. We go after the prostitute instead of the pimp, we go after the illegal immigrant, rather than the employer.

For me, border security has been and always will be about protecting U.S. limited resources. We don't really do a good job of taking care of the poor and downtrodden who already live here, so I'm not sure we want to keep adding more.

I'm all for going after employers.

In the specific case you two are speaking about, do either of you have any evidence that the employer violated the law?

If so, have either of you provided the evidence to
U.S. immigration officials?

Whether to send him back to serve prison there vs serving prison here isn't the issue. The issue is a politicized msm, to the point where people have lost trust.
If only people could think rationally, though. MSM runs the story that the guy is an illegal alien and the entire far right be like (despite the fact this isn't the norm):

told-ya-i-told-you.gif

And do I think that thought process is limited to the far right? Nope. When each side wants to make a point, they look for any and all examples and make that the norm. ALL youth pastors are child molesters, ALL Drag Queens are groomers, ALL Christians hate gays, ALL pro-choicers celebrate when a baby is "murdered"...

Facts are facts Alaska.
When the msm makes a decision to withhold parts of any story, that's a problem.

I actually agree. Journalism should focus on facts and allow commentators and the American people interpret the narrative. I'm simply pointing out that audiences are lazy and easily manipulated...it's all group think and the MSM just wants to draw in the eyes for the $$$.

So you are ok when they identify the race of someone in a story that is shot by a cop?

Your thread title says “they won’t admit it”. Who asked them (MSM) the question and do you have a clip or link to them denying it?

That's the headline from the actual article. Ask them.

And yet, though I have relied 100% on MSM for this story, I knew he was here illegally, and I also knew part of why he was not sent back to Brazil instead of serving his sentence here. I would advise OP to read newspapers as your main source of information. Here is a very good recent article from NYT with a very thorough explanation of the background.

Relevance of his illegal status?
You're kidding right? If he wasn't here, he couldn't be on the loose threating Americans. I know deep, in the weeds type of concept so I understand your confusion.

Oh I was aware he was illegal as other sources had reported it.

Why do you think the three main networks avoided it?

I must of missed the question to the media of. "Is he an illegal Alien" and they responded with. "No".

Oh so it is t a question you are asking. Got it.

Also, you’re referencing Newbusters.org and asking me to refer to the article. 😂

You also didn’t answer my first question.

But I didn’t read “other sources.” I only read MSM sources for this story.

Such as this one, which as best as I can tell is from a MSM broadcast source:

In January 2018, Cavalcante was able to board a flight using his own passport in Brasilia and travel to Florida via Puerto Rico, entering the United States illegally.

Perhaps your source in the OP got it wrong…

Did you read the article? They reviewed the three networks.

What was the most severe of his actions? The murder, the escape from custody, or that he was here illegally?

Don't they know that there are narratives they need to help reinforce? Illegal immigrants are all hardened criminals who are hell bent on continuing their life of crime in this great country!! Release that this guy was an illegal alien!!! What are they hiding?!?

I remember a while back, I collected and analyzed data on illegal immigrants and US Citizens crime rate. US Citizens were far more likely to have committed crimes compared to illegal immigrants. Basically, the people entering the country did less bad things on average than US citizens. It was somewhere around 2-3x more likely that US citizens would commit crimes than illegal immigrants.
