Bud Anderson, the last American ace from WW2 has passed away.

Anderson was a triple ace, having shot down 15 German aircraft. In a career that spanned 30’years Anderson flew combat missions over Vietnam, and was a test pilot with Chuck Yeager.

The last of America’s World War II triple aces, Brig. Gen. Clarence E. “Bud” Anderson, has died. He was 102. Anderson flew 116 combat missions as a fighter pilot and shot down 16 enemy aircraft.

When I was 21 I didn't exactly have my stuff together. This guy was behind a 2000 hp Rolls Royce engine in a P-51 shooting down the pride of the Luftwaffe. Amazing what those guys did at such a young age.

My neighbors son , Oil City, Pa. Col. Francis Gabby Gabreski was an ace during WW2 with 28 kills, and later received 6 more kills in Korea. I would see him coming and going during the holidays visiting parents and relatives and he was always very soft spoken and friendly.
