Don't understand calling Nebraska bugeaters. Sorry if it's a stupid question. Please explain. Thx.
Okay, this is weird ...
According to the linked site, huskers.com, it was IOWA who was originally referred to as the Cornhuskers! Furthermore, Nebraska co-opted the name after they grew tired of the ridiculously stupid "Bugeaters."
By that time Iowa had already moved on to "Hawkeyes" apparently so not a big deal at the time.
Crazy. Who knew? http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=2802
Not everyone thinks about Nebraska outside of game week
Besides formerly being the bugeaters, the 'N' on their helmet stands for kNowledge.

Can't believe this is all new to some people!
They make new Hawkeyes every day, Hawknado.
Wrong.Watch 100 years from now you guys are actually called the Hawknadoes. But that would be horrible b/c that would mean that your merged teams with ISU...ugh. Bad idea.
Wrong.
What's going to happen is that University Hospitals & Clinics is going to finish the job of absorbing Kinnick Stadium, sort of like that alien in "The Blob," forcing a merger between the Iowa State football team and UIHC.
The teams will be called the Cyclonoscopys.
