Butler bet the Farm on Thad Matta and they gave him a pay raise to $3.5 million, so even though Matta is near the Bottom of Big East, I doubt they can afford to fire him. From what I've read, Matta's health issues are behind him so the thought that Matta might retire seems unlikely. Matta has Jack coming in next year, so I'm sure that will move the needle.

I would say Fran ends up in Indianpolis to watch Jack and perhaps have some affiliation with Butler as consultant/program insider and maybe gets a part time gig with BTN but the timing is in question. We have Fran through this season for sure but spring will be interesting whether we get a buyout announcement or not.

If Jack turns out to be a stud and Butler sucks next year while Iowa doesn’t it might be the perfect timing. But that’s a lot of big ifs.

they were an elite program with Brad Stevens and Chris Holtman and I'm sure they'll get back there in a few years

see bold above; The Butler games I have watched Matta on the sidelines still looks to be in pretty bad shape physically. JMO
