Buying tickets from scalpers

Has anybody has any bad experiences buying tickets from scalpers near the stadium? I'm planning on going tomorrow but don't have tickets, planning on buying from someone selling on Melrose. I've heard stories of people buying fakes. Are there scalpers that are more "reputable" than others.

Any suggestions?

I've never bought a fake, but there was an article posted a few years back. First rule is, if the price is too good, especially hours before kickoff, don't buy it. Second, the printed paper tickets are easy to copy. If you can, get a regular printed ticket from the university. I've always asked people I've bought from outside the stadium if they will walk with me to the gate and I'll give them the cash once the ticket scans. If they say no, I move on to the next person. If they will, I say that's ok and give them the cash.

Your safest bet is to buy from someone who has actual hard copy tickets in hand above all rather than 'printed at home' copies. I heard on the radio that 'most' fakes are printed at home tickets anymore. The scam artist prints them at home and has 1 legitimate copy but prints them 4 or 5 times. First one through the turnstiles gets in and the other 4 tix are rejected at the gates.

I've had the best luck on the west side of the stadium close to kickoff. Legit people selling extras and not trying to make bank on it.

The dude at Melrose and Melrose has been there for years. I've got to believe if he wa a scammer he would not be findable from week to week. Suspect he sells legit stuff.

Yeah, sorry. Was being lazy. Whichever "Melrose" it is that is not a dead end. The one with the light at the main Melrose. The dude is on the southwest (I think it would be) corner. Across the main Melrose from the parking building. African American. I've bought from him a few times.

I sold 2 of mine to that guy at the last game for $25. The 2 guys that bought them paid $40 for them. It's Melrose circle.
