Things I would do with the Swarm

I have tried to pull this off and have been unsuccessful to this point. It’s tougher than you think, unfortunately.

I appreciate this thread and all of the comments and suggestions. I will take them under advisement and try to implement some of them.

Last, I hope I never guilt anybody for not joining the Swarm. You have every right to do whatever it is that you want with your disposable income. I will never begrudge you for spending it elsewhere.

With that said, I hope some of you that have been on the sidelines will join us soon.
I appreciate your response, and the great work you are doing!

I will just add that anytime you are on a podcast or a radio interview, and the conversation turns to the number of Swarm members, and perhaps the podcast host (or you) make a comment expressing disappointment in the number of Swarm members, the underlying implication is that Iowa fans who are not members are doing something wrong. I think this is where some of the "guilting" comes into play. I would encourage you to steer any conversation away from anything resembling "complaints" about the number of members. Simply thank those who have joined and say we'd love to have more. Leave it at that. Then let the work you are doing speak for itself.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for connecting. This is my second year in the Swarm … The Hawkeyes are part of me … I can appreciate the credit card idea being more difficult than one may think…

I'd have up to 4 practices open only to Swarm members, and maybe even allow some access with coaches in meetings where they go over some stuff and you have a chance to ask a few (respectful) questions.

  • Continue efforts to create things like a small surcharge on tickets or "rounding-up" options at concessions stands, with that money going to the Swarm. In those cases, you have people already spending their money, and the idea of spending just a little more usually will be easy to stomach -- certainly easier than simply making a cash donation.
I like this Idea. Many people are already desensitized to added fees. I would round up my bill at Hy-Vee or at Dirty John's to support the efforts. I guess I would at concession stands but I already feel that I am being took.
