It would appear DeVos won the wrestle offs during the year if that's where he competed for the entire season, no?
And it was a coaches son who they wanted to move down for state after his kid got beat consistently throughout the year by DeVos in wrestle offs?
So, where will Devos end up next year? Assuming he will be leaving. Does he stay in the area and attend Valley or Polk? Or could he up and moving to Iowa City, Bett, Waverly?
His dad is a volunteer coach, and they had split the wrestle offs previously. And it happened to Biscoglia last year with Allison wanting to go at 106.
Not sure why the head coach made the decisions he did...
I heard Biscoglia had won once early in the year and this definatley wasn't the rubber match.
Also Allison and Biscoglia didn't wrestle off all year last year. I assume Allison wrestled up all year because Biscoglia was undersized and wanted to be the 106 lber in the post season. The two situations seem completely different.
Yeah Michigan added this around the time the weight cutting rules changed. Allowing 2 kids to enter into the same weight helps to avoid forcing the loser in the wrestle offs to cut to a lower class. We have even had a few wrestle each other in the State Finals. This is also allowed since the Team Championship is decided in a dual format and the Tournament is solely for Individuals.
As a matter of fact Andy Simmons won his 2nd state championship over his fellow teammate(Casey Hulliberger). That same wrestler went on to make the finals his next 2 seasons winning once and losing the other to Travis Piccard(made R12 for The Citadel).
