Cade McNamara to Iowa?

I think it's more of a wishful thinking, or someone jerking us Iowa fans around situation right now, but others say there is smoke to the situation.
I am in believe-it-when-I-see-it mode. That would be such a huge get. Not going to allow myself to get my hopes up. Iowa does have a connection through Budmayr who recruited Cade's brother at Colorado State.

Someone referenced Budmayr on twitter and I didn’t get the reference. Thanks for clearing that up

What about the Labas kid? Is a RS Soph next year? I thought he was pretty good? McNamara is more mobile than Petras so I'd be OK with it. I'm going to start hating NCAA FB and MBB off-seasons. It's going to be nothing but rumor mills until next Spring

I think the ball is in Ferentz's court. This type of smoke is generally started from the player's side and recruiting through the media is the complete opposite of how Ferentz opperates. So, I think we are a Kirk Ferentz phone call away from this happening. The question is if Ferentz wants to pursue this. I think it is fair to let him consider his options but I really hope he is doing that and not considering running with what he's got for next season.

If he wasn't good enough to give playing time this season, then we need to find someone else if it is a significant upgrade. We know McNamara can get it done....although he did have an offensive line that blocks in Michigan.

Would be a huge upgrade at QB. But still need to bring in at least a couple OL and WR as well. I’m sure we’re losing a handful of guys via the portal as well.

That's the talk around Ann Arbor, along with how great a fit it would be if Iowa had different OC.

Im not sure Iowa will have success with getting a transfer at QB from an Upper P5 school given our OL and WRs. Unless he has no where else to go I dont see why he would. Sure the scheme is similar but thats about it. I see us landing a non-P5 transfer.

Tom K has been saying all year that the 2023 starting QB isn't on the roster and there's some guys that generally have pretty good info that think McNamara is a strong possibility.

What say you guys?
Your diversity in Gifs is fantastic.

As to the topic, it would be a great get; however, with only 2 years of eligibility left, I would be a little surprised he would want to come given the OL struggles. Also curious if he is a big enough name to garner a large NIL offer from an SEC or ACC team trying to buy their way into contention.

If I had magically powers I would use them to replay the 2022 season with Cade at QB. Would have made a big difference? A small difference or no difference? Problems on offense run deep.

Maybe we can find out for 2023 without using magical powers. :)

FSU might go after him if Travis leaves

I have a hard time believing anything will change with Brian still confused AF with his mouth hanging open is still charge of the offense

I honestly don't know how much BF is allowed to do. Without Dad saying alright. The offense has gone through several coordinators with little change.

This. No matter how good he might be, he needs protection and more that one receiver to throw to!
Shame they couldn't get this done. Before Keegan made up his mind. Although that was probably done a month ago or so.
