The Iowa Swarm collective can take the credit for this one. I was on the fence about donating but after this announcement I pulled the trigger for 1k per year. Every donation helps and you can do single a donation, monthly or a yearly lump sum.

This is the new reality for college football. We can either embrace it or fall behind.

Now Arland Bruce is gone too. I sure hope we can get some receivers through the portal!

So people are actually donating money to get college kids to play at their favorite school? Jeeze priorities have changed. Screw the sick kids I guess.

To be fair how is it different from people who donated money to make sure that your university has the nicest football facilities??

I mean some of the facilities in college football would probably put NFL facilities to shame.

Not saying the priorities arn't messed up here but they have been that way for a long time.

Don’t disagree however IMO there is a substantial difference in a gift to a school as opposed to knowing you’re paying for a player.

IDK

The money you are donating is indirect it's to help players find local endorsement deals. Not paid directly to the player.

In the same way donating for a facility is also indirect. The idea is/was to attract better players to your university.

Seems pretty comparable.

Intent and what is actually happening is different.

Honestly if it was straight up a thing where people were like "If we can raise $500,000 this 5 star athlete will come play for our team" I honestly think college football teams would be able to raise crazy amounts of money like that.

If that was the case the teams with the biggest and richest fan bases would dominate. ND would probably be a big time powerhouse again.

Shame they couldn't get this done. Before Keegan made up his mind. Although that was probably done a month ago or so.
Keagan is probably gone regardless, but doing into the portal doesn’t mean you’re definitely gone. Bruce is probably also gone, but who knows. Guys do sometimes come back. I’ve seen estimates that about 40% of guys hitting the portal will find new homes.

The schools in the B1G are getting roughly 60 million per this year and will jump to around 100 million in 2025. With the schools making this much I think it makes sense to put my money in the players rather than the school.

I would hope this is something in addition to other donations. I’m not in the collective, but I’ve considered it and am still considering, but it’s not like a donation there is going to mean I don’t donate somewhere else. We make a lot of donations to a lot of non-profits for things that are close to our hearts and will continue to do so, whether or not I ever donate to the Swarm.

Just remember, you can buy an F1 car but if the driver can't find his ass with either hand it won't win races...

I saw a graphic that showed he had an 85% completion rate while being blitzed.

Petras was 35% for comparison.
I'm going to guess most of those 35% competitions were to the back for less than 2 yards.

I assume all your money goes into philanthropic endeavors and you never spend any of it frivolously.

People can put money into this and sick kids, it's not like they're mutually exclusive.
