Cadets

Brands loses to Carr 8-4. Alex Thomsen on the verge of losing, comes back to win. Coleman moves on. Bisquet does too. Schriever loses in the first round. Faught moves on.

UWW Cadet MFS 63 KG - Jason Renteria
Champ. Round 1 - Jason Renteria (Illinois) received a bye () (Bye)
Champ. Round 2 - Jason Renteria (Illinois) won by tech fall over Nathan Lendt (Iowa) (TF 10-0)
Champ. Round 3 - Jason Renteria (Illinois) won by tech fall over Joseph Sacco (New Jersey) (TF 12-1)
Champ. Round 4 - Jason Renteria (Illinois) won by decision over Camden Fontenot (Texas) (Dec 6-0)

Considering Carr is considered one of the elite guys in his class not a bad result really.
Nelson Brands continues to improve. He'll be a fine addition to Iowa Wrestling when his day arrives.

Looking at the Cadet brackets I noticed that if Renteria gets by his quarter final opponent he has a good shot at wrestling Jaime Hernandez. Aren't they OPRF teammates? Any insider info Papa?

Flo has Carr as a top 5 p4p in his class. Brands is still coming into his own and pretty raw. Not a bad loss at all.

Not really Keaton has been wrestling well Alex was like 140 just 2 months ago

Yes, Geerts has wrestled extremely well this offseason but not sure many people here or on a national level would have picked him over Thomsen. Just pointing it out since it wasn't mentioned.

Keaton is very good. Not totally surprised to see him win. He will make a nice 133 pounder for someone in a few years. And I know this is freestyle. However, this is a bit more evidence that though Thomsen is a hell of a nice recruit I still do not view him as a must get with what we have coming in at the lighter weights.

If Thomsen grows...he did not look good today. Last minute of the match he lost, he started attacking and I thought that's the kid I normally see.

Cadet Freestyle Nationals
Best 2 out of 3 85kg - Jacob Warner's place is 1st and has scored 2.00 team points.
Round 1 - Jacob Warner (Illinois) won by decision over Michael Beard (Pennsylvania) (Dec 12-4)
Round 2 - Jacob Warner (Illinois) won by decision over Michael Beard (Pennsylvania) (Dec 11-3)

Best 2 out of 3 100kg - Gable Steveson's place is 1st and has scored 2.00 team points.
Round 1 - Gable Steveson (Minnesota) won by decision over Noah Adams (West Virginia) (Dec 2-1)
Round 2 - Gable Steveson (Minnesota) won by tech fall over Noah Adams (West Virginia) (TF 11-0)

Congrats to those two studs on making Cadet World Teams. Warner also made the Greco World Team. Will he compete in both world championships?

Maybe Spencer is already hot on the recruiting trail for us. Gavin is also good friends with Gable Steveson! Maybe he took notice of the Hawks doing work this weekend, 1 champ (Meyer), 3 Runner ups (Sorensen, Paddock, Brooks), 1 Third (Kemerer), and 1 Eighth (Wilcke).

Murin beat Regalbuto of Ohio 10-0 in Consi Semis and Kyran Hagan of MO 4-1 for 3rd. Renteria was beaten 13-2 in Consi Semis by Van Maanen of Wisconsin and 10-0 by Will Lewan of IL in 5th place match.

Go Hawkeyes

Spring passed and he grew. Seemed thicker @138. He grew at least an inch maybe 2. His performance well USA wrestling honored him. BTW love ya OH.:)
Jack Huffman is atracting maybe 141
Go Hawkeyes sorry too jabber

Oh his results have been great but he just looks drastically smaller than everyone he wrestles imo.

Jack Huffman is a great kid. My good friend has coached him since pee wees. He keeps getting better and better but I think he'll probably end up at a school like unk or Maryville. He's getting big too. He'll be at 26 or 32 next year.

Is Teasdale no longer a UWW Cadet? There were kids competing in the division that are a school year ahead of him. Maybe he is older for his grade? Would be fun to see him wrestle RBY.

Teasdale is old for his grade. I believe 17 as a sophomore so hes a UWW junior, but would love to see him and RBY. Young looked awesome this weekend

I saw Teasdale interviewed by Flo and they inquired whether he was going to compete in the Cadet WTTs and he said to their surprise that he is competing in Juniors. Speaks to how good he is being on the young side of the Junior side and competing as well as he did. I saw a picture of him, Spencer Lee and Max Murin at young guns apparently getting Max ready for Cadet WTTs and noted that Murin and Teasdale looked to be of similar size. I read somewhere that Murin was thought to be a 141/149 guy. Looks like a 133lber at this point to me. He's on the lean side so I suppose he could put on some muscle.

Teasdale appears to be the smallest guy in that pic, imo.
