Cam Lard

I'm guessing Prohm and Campball are scouring that list looking for more recruits.

Remember when Campball signed the kid from Pennsylvania once he was released from jail for armed robbery? The kid that no one else would touch with a ten foot pole?

Thank you for providing real data and showing how little sense society has today. It’s unbelievable how much mass hysteria, fear and anger there is over police brutality/abuse of power issue that is portrayed to be an everyday common event. What happened to Mr Floyd is a crime punishable by the greatest extent of the law no doubt. No one disputes that fact but to paint all law enforcement with a broad brush is ridiculous.

Clay Travis quoted that the 2019 stats show 43 unarmed people in the US were killed by police; 19 white, 9 black, 9 Asian and the rest a mix of other races. 43 in a country of 330 million people! These numbers have been trending down also for the past 4-5 years. You’d never know.

No one ever asks or discusses data. It’s all about ‘feelings’, ‘opinions’ and ‘I think’. When faced with data many of these narratives do not seem to fit reality. The media never quotes data! They use descriptive words that push their agenda; huge, massive, devastating, etc.

Then when are we ever going to be 100% perfect? There are people who do bad things in all races and all walks of life. To think you are going to put anyone in charge who sets up a system where nothing bad ever happens - give me a break!

Last all I ever here is it’s ‘time for change’. There’s never a plan or rarely even a list of the actions needed. No one even wants to do the work because they want someone else to do it. That is why they use the ‘we’ word all that time which really means ‘you all’ or ‘someone else’. What people find out when they have to do the work behind ‘change’ is it’s really difficult, full of gray areas and sometimes you end up in a worse situation than you started because the true ‘data’ never supported the action.

Well said, I personally didn't know the data. Really wish that would be part of the typical discussion. Can you tweet that to AOC or some other agenda pusher?

On the other side of that, I feel bad for the families that are losing their loved ones, Floyd family and the others that are being killed as part of the riot. None of these events needed to happen, so it is really sad to see / hear.

Interesting statistics, the percentage of violent crime in the U.S. is equal between black and whites since 2017. During that same time, there have been more whites shot and killed by police officers then blacks every single year.

The argument being made is that blacks make up a smaller % of the population and are then being targeted by police officers, but the percentage of blacks committing violent crimes is far higher, then the percentage of blacks being shot by police officers, according to their population %.

What happened to George Floyd was awful. It brought me to tears as I watched. No man, no color, should ever have to go through that. That police officer should be jailed for the rest of his life, no question. I understood the protests in Minneapolis. I don't understand the death being an excuse to hurt and harm others.

Let me also say, that I am a democrat. I have no doubts some police officers are bad people, and that white privilege does exist. I personally am not a racist person, nor have I ever acted in a racist manner. I do not have a single white friend that is. Not one. I'm trying really really hard to not believe, that what is being pushed right now isn't politically motivated, but I'm struggling with it.

The same media that was telling me to stay home, social distance, now isn't even mentioning that during these protests and riots.

Every day I struggle more and more with our political system, and wonder just how much of what we are fed is absolute bullsh**, in order to have us focus anger on each other, rather than the politicians in charge of our country. All of this makes me sad. All of it.

My sentiments exactly

I don't remember this.
Who was that person?

Has it ever occurred to you that there is a lot more to the story than just the stats regarding unarmed people killed by police?

And there are most definitely lists of actions, there are many, many, many people doing the work that you claim isn't being done.

May I respectfully suggest you do a bit of research before forming such damningly strong and conclusive opinions? I'll give you a hint—it's going to take some reading. TV is not an appropriate source.

It becomes incredibly difficult to measure something as nebulous as ‘change’ and ‘accusations’ when you do not have data. If you rely on ‘stories’ alone it’s left up to the individual or group to decide based on ‘feelings’ which can be all over the board. How else can you attack a problem without data let alone define it? This is a data driven world and we should all know that first hand from sports. Sports is full of data and it’s used to measure and confirm arguments. Yet, data is often ignored when it disproves the rationale of a societal narrative.

There are 330 million Americans with likely another 20 million undocumented people and foreign tourists so roughly 350 million in this country on a daily basis. That’s a lot of potential human interactions some of which include police interactions. The data shows a very small % of interactions end badly. Can we get better? Absolutely but being irrational to push a narrative is counterproductive.

The stats and data can be found by reading as TV media largely ignores data when pushing their narrative.

I am a tad confused.

It was ok for Fran to go after a kid like that, but not ISU?
I remember these boards when Hubbard was brought in, MANY were not happy about it. A few made excuses, but for the most part, I remember a lot of people not being happy about it.

The narrative being pushed, is the same one that is pushed every 4 years before a Presidential election. Prepare for upset women, gays, senior citizens, transexuals and every other group that politicians and the media can put us in.

Help refresh my memory....why was Hubbard booted? I can't remember what exactly did it.

It was so crazy, I’m still not sure why Fran took the risk he did. It was early in his tenure and he was loved and we were all happy to have anyone but Lickliter at the helm. If Fran had been on the job for 5-6 years and was struggling I could see taking a chance on someone like Hubbard, but he didn’t need to do that. Everyone knew it might take some time.

I agree, many didn't understand the reach there. What did Hubbard do? I honestly thought he/Iowa just had a change of heart. Wasn't he just on campus for a month, then left before the season started?

There are some things mankind are just not meant to know. Evidently, according to the Iowa athletic administration, the Hubbard situation is one of those.
