First of all, you cannot draw up a better start to the B1G season for Iowa. However, I am concerned that we peak to soon and hit a slump later in the year OR during tournament time. Right now this team is playing like a team that can make a deep run in the tournament. Can they keep it up all year with no let downs at the wrong time?

after the MichSt win....."We're 4-0 (in the Big Ten) and that's terrific, but we know what we have coming, "We have 14 more (league games) and they're all difficult. (This type of win) makes the next game tougher and bigger." ...Fran McCaffery

The rebounding and defense will be sustained. Obviously, there will be nights you don't shoot it well, but if they keep defending and attacking the glass the way they are, Iowa will be very tough to beat.

I think our seniors will stay focused. I worry that we will get a game where Uhl and Baer will be off. We've gotten great help from them off the bench.

Now that's a guy with his feet on the ground.

This is the real danger

I don't see that as a danger at all. These kids are locked in and know they're damn good. They know they have the target squarely on their backs now, and judging from their attitudes, they are totally focused on being aggressive.

As long as JU is the leader of that aggressiveness, at both ends, this is our best team since '87.

Just relax and enjoy the ride. The cream rises to the top and we are one of the best teams in the conference. We haven't even played that good in some of the games so I have to disagree with you thinking we have peaked.

Didn't we hear this on the football board? The problem is not if we fall...but if we can bounce back! The issue two years ago was disheartening.

I stopped looking at your messages on the football board because all you do is worry or think Iowa can't win.... If I needed to feel bad about a win, I'd give my wife my bonus check.

If by off you mean not scoring, that will happen. However, it seems to me that both these guys bring effort every night. If they continue to do that, which I think they will, we'll be fine. Hell, we've done it with Utoff on the bench with foul trouble, Gesell on the bench with foul trouble, just seems like someone always picks up the slack. There have been games where Utoff carries us. The thing is, and these are Fran's words, this team doesn't care who scores. That translates to a players that have no agenda and will find the hot hand. That said, I trust them both now and think they will just get better.

I'm hoping JU gets a bit of a breather against Rutgers. I do expect the freshman to hit a bit of a wall, but I think we've got enough depth play through it.

The second half of the schedule should allow us cut 3 or 4 minutes off the starters in some games and that could be key cone tournament time.

If the Hawks come out with defensive intensity, things will roll. Rutgers will oblige by turning the ball over and giving up some easy shots. Just move the ball on offense and good shots will happen.
