Uthoff was wide open for a three at a critical point with maybe 5 to 7 minutes to play and he doesn't even look to shoot. Also said ISU didn't really do anything different on Utoff in the second half other than a little more up on him. Simply said he stopped shooting. Sounds frustrated with him.

Did he talk about his total lack of ability to manage the game within the last 2-3 minutes? His total lack of in-game coaching?
And I do think in many other areas he's a good coach but he fails big time IMO in this front.
This coupled with Jok's comment sounds like Alford.[/QUOTE ]

Twas my first thought. Hope that doesn't become a pattern.Did he talk about his total lack of ability to manage the game within the last 2-3 minutes? His total lack of in-game coaching?

Jock said in the post game that Utoff told him that he thought that ISU would try to stop him and that it was up to him now. It sounds like he made the choice to stop. Very frustrating. Also said ISU didn't really do anything different on Utoff in the second half other than a little more up on him. Simply said he stopped shooting. Sounds frustrated with him.
If Fran didn't notice the difference in how ISU guarded Utoff in the second half then he is simply not qualified to be a head coach.
This is where I lost it in the 2nd half. Thomas was bodying up Utoff in the 2nd half and no calls. So you know what you do, You go right at the kid and make him choose. Thomas is not that physical of a player (MSU is way worse) and you go right at him. UTOFF let him push him all over.
I love the Iowa team, but we are a bunch of 6-4-6-9 tweeners who are not physical at all. Iowa has to get stronger and Utoff has to demand the ball on the block. I remember last year Travis Trice from MSU guarding Utoff on the block. The 6-2 Trice shut down Utoff on the block, that should not happen.
Iowa lacks mental toughness.
