Can the Hawks W the B10 tnmt?

There are match-up challenges for the Hawks. Nebraska is a very good dribble drive team that will expose individuals defensive weaknesses. They are playing with much more confidence lately. Rutgers plays very good physical defense and have streaky guards that are capable of carrying a team in crunch time. Those match-ups will prepare us for the NCAA’s but are difficult style types for us to have to play IMO.

We have a great draw. We have beaten both Nebraska and Northwestern. We should have beaten Rutgers. We should have beaten Illinois and we can beat Purdue/Whoever. If we come in focused and ready we can win this thing. History says Nebraska will probably beat us. What's it gonna be Hawks?

I think this team has the fortitude to win at least a couple of games. Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen, but if they're going to keep their projected 6, beating the first game is a must.

Yep. This first game is strictly for maintaining NCAA seeding, which right now appears to be a solid 6.

From there, we're not improving unless we make the Finals.

When has Iowa had easy games against Nebraska, Rutgers and Illinois? Barely ever. Not liking the odds.
Please tell me the final scores both times Iowa has played Nebraska this year in basketball?

Iowa matches up well against Nebraska. Nebraska has the worst defense in the Big and Iowa has the best offense. Not good for Nebraska.

There isn't much difference between a 5 or 6 seed. Either way, Iowa wouldn't have to face a 1 or 2 seed until the Sweet 16.
I think this is true. In the current bracketology, the Hawks would face #3 Tennessee in rd 2. If they were a 5 seed they would face UCLA in rd 2. Not sure there is a big difference.

Got to win the first game before it matters at all.

The biggest difference is exactly what you described.

There's less of a difference between the 3 and 4 seeds, especially this year, than there is between a 1 and a 2.

If we beat a 3 seed, which we can......then I'd rather play a 2 seed, than Gonzaga or Baylor for a trip to the Elite 8.

The team, at this point in time (but need pmac back), is the most tournament ready team I've seen of the Fran era. Yes they can.

Probably the deepest, too. This team remained tough even when Keegan was out and playing injured. And they got better as the year went on. And maintained their focus even when the calls went against them. I like their chances.

Hard to beat a team three times in a row. Nebraska previous to this year had fair pretty well against Iowa.

I'll bet the Big Ten Tournament is Fran's least priority. He's never embraced winning it, like some of the other coaches. If Iowa wins their first game and the next against Rutgers, I'll be a happy camper. Fran has never won 2 straight games in the BIG tournament. I'm just hoping Patrick's injury doesn't linger into the NCAA tournament, that would be so Iowa....

So do I. Perhaps Fran's "Business-Like" approach is working. Stay focused on the game plan, run the offense, and play good D. Decent rebounding and JBo getting hot would sure seem to get us some wins going forward.

This team can win it. The only games I would consider bad matchups would be Illinois and Purdue because they just have monsters in the post. Otherwise we have the perfect team for March - we can largely defend man-to-man, we have 2 superstar types in the Murray twins, and we have lineups we can put on the floor where all 5 guys can isolate and get a good shot.

Early this year who would have thought this is accurate or even possible??!!
The level of defense really picked up. I believe Joe T inspired the others to a higher level. Nothing against the staff, but when a team has a tenacious defender like Joe, it tends to be contagious. Love Tony, Keegan, Kris, and the others as well. Maintain!

Hard to beat a team 3 times in a row? Sounds very negative to me. Ask how the Iowa women feel about that after their 3rd victory over Indiana in the B10 championship game?
