Can We Get a QB That...

If your WRs can't get open much and drop passes when they do,
If your OL can't pick up a blitz,
If your play calling completely excludes any sort of screen game,
If you can't run the football,
If your are constantly in 3rd and long,
If your field position is lousy because your special teams suck,
If your coach would rather see zero interceptions than 5 TD passes,
If your play calling is as predictable as the sunrise,

It's not a QB problem.

Ruddock left and flourished at Michigan and is backup NFL QB

Beathard got sacked as soon as he got the snap last year and now
he is NFL QB.

Stanley is true Sophomore and he's got no run game, his receivers drop a lot of his passes, and his pass protection lets in free rushers several times a game.

I do agree Stanley needs to learn how to put some air in the ball. That is why we hired a guy that never played the position to be our QB coach.

Ruddock also had faster skill position players to throw to and more separation.

Stanley has pressure, no running game and WRs who fail to consistently win routes (although the TE win a lot, you can bracket their coverage more easily)

And his TD/INT was great for a first year starter.

Some of you have absolute blinders on when you look at the future of this team.
Next year they’ll struggle early breaking in new LBs, but will continue to progress on offense. They’ll have FR OTs with another season in the weight room, drilling technique, picking up edge rushers and stunts. Our FR WR will have another year with Copeland, someone will have to step up and replace V’burg who played this year at 90%. We have a SOLID stable of running backs. The DL returns minus Bazata.

Oh, and Stanley will receive ALL the first team reps. I don’t think anybody realizes...oh it’s so frustrating watching Hawk fans do anything but support your team. These are the guys you’re going to have for the next few years. Let’s talk about how they get better.

I can see not running uptempo in the 3rd quarter because of the wind. Of course we gave them the ball and the wind in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter we played with no sense of urgency even though we were down 2 touchdowns! I turned the game off after our 3 yard pass into traffic that was intercepted!

Yup. I remember one of the announcers saying about the drive that started early in the 4th quarter (and lasted until midway through the 4th quarter) that they had run 11 plays. They were barely inside Purdue territory. 11 plays to travel 35 yards? And after each play they used about 20 or 30 seconds of clock. Guys were walking back to the huddle. It was insane. No urgency whatsoever. The drive ended on the 11th play when Stanley threw a pick on a three yard out route. The execution sucked most of the game, but that's on the coaches to get the team to hurry up and start running tempo or even 2-minute drills (which the players and coaches don't know how to do as evidenced by the end of the 1st half). It was maddening, but at a certain point just comical. The incompetence at all levels was unreal.
