Carton

He defaulted out the other weekend as well. Ryan did better today than I thought he would. Rodriguez is probably their 2nd best guy after Hall.

In my opinion he gets a chance after Ryan's showing against Rodriquez.
You do realize the only reason he didn't get first crack at the spot is due to injury

No he isn't, especially yesterday.

That would be Weatherman who was in the round of 12 each of the past two seasons at the NCAAs. Then probably followed by Weatherspoon, then Rodriguez--who is very solid.

I don't see a whole lot of difference between Weatherspoon, Weatherman and Rodriguez considering the other two are 5th year guys vs a 2nd year guy. I see more talent with Rodriguez. He was about the only ISU guy not to gas out yesterday while Weatherman squeaked by 10-9 and spoon got dominated. I think that could be a fluid situation this year figuring out who their 2nd best guy is, lol. Either way I thought Ryan battled better than he had been. He has some skills, needs to trust them and get after it.

Ryan has good fundamentals--stance, technique, motion, ability to hand fight and scramble. But he lacks force and slickness and any high-percentage go-to moves from feet or top. He is good at "hanging" with guys for a couple of periods--doesn't seem to matter if it's Heil or a #30-ranked guy.

I feel the same way about Carton, who's had two additional years in the room.

Grothus has funk and some dangrous go-to moves, which enables him to beat top guys. He's not solid from all positions, which means he's prone to getting beat, especially the second time he wrestles a guy.

My money is still on Grothus!
