Carver Crowd for WBB Game

When they went on the 9-0 run to take the lead 74-70, that is when I really noticed it, and my thoughts went to how come the men’s BB crowd doesn’t get that way. I guess the longtime season ticket holders that aren’t at the WBB games?

Woman’s game is fast, fewer timeouts,( tv timeouts), coaches are not divas, girls look like they are having a blast. Great entertainment Ref’s still suck however
I was at Iowa when the great C. Vivian Stringer was the coach. At that time, MBB was the sh$t, and as good as the women were, and there were good crowds, the product just didn’t seem to garner as much attention. I watched the passing tonight and the flow of the women, and it was fun and exciting. Clark can hit from the logo, but I will take the inbounds exchange between her and Czinano all day long. That inbound play was like a sheet of music, played perfectly.

The arena was roughly 50% full yet the place was LOUD. Tickets sold / distributed were 7,510; actually butts in the seats were probably a bit less. Capacity of CHA is now 15,000.

As you stated, when the Iowa women went on that 9-0 run and took a 74-70 lead, the arena once again came alive and got very LOUD.

Check this out:

The carver experience for the men is too diluted and distracted with all the pipes in music and scoreboard video content. I have dreamed for years of being in charge of (re)designing the game experience.

I'll help tomorrow! Go Hawks!

Its interesting. You behave like a complete ass on the Off Topic board and call anyone who disagrees with you politically a desecration or worse. When a poster got tired of your antics and pointed out to you all of your DUI offenses, @BlackNGoldBleeder asked you if that made you a desecration or worse. You didn't reply. It definitely makes you a hypocrite.

Bottom line, don't be an idiot and drink and drive, where you selfishly put others' lives at risk.

Bluder commented about the crowd noise after the game as well. If 7500 fans can generate that kind of fan noise on a Monday night then the issue isn’t Carver.
The crowds at the women's games are routinely louder and more active than the men's crowds. The women's team routinely finishes in the top half of the conference - usually top 5 w/ a legit shot at winning the Big10 conference title more often than not. The coach is more likeable, they play harder, and I've never seen anyone from the women's team criticize the fans or officials on twitter....

The second.

Also, for all the complaining about the students (which is justified) . There are less students at the women's game and it's still loud. It's truly the diehards.
There are nearly NO students at the women's games.* The pep band is the student section. It appeared that maybe they had free pizza for the students last night. Did anyone end up eating those?
And, there are WAY more old people at the women's games, and yet somehow they manage to make noise.

*Usually do see several student-athletes at the games, and I am sure there are plenty more that I just don't recognize.

The PA guy drives some of the energy as well. ‘Let me hear ya Hawk fans’
Was watching last night while my wife was in the room. She gave me a "Jesus, who's yelling near the announcers?" I had to explain it was the PA guy and the announcers weren't even in the building.

My son was there last night and I don't think his band group did the pep band (there are 2 pep band teams that rotate in case you didn't know). Students don't have to pay for tickets to a women's game, only mens. Playing a top 10 team at home probably generated a few extra students last night even on a Monday night. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of students at tonights game as well with them retiring Garza's number and going up against Michigan State.

So was I. Best crowd at any type of event in my life.

Was also at the men's Michigan game last Thursday. Worst men's crowd I've ever experienced at Carver
same here as far as Street Michigan game..if you recall we got off to a poor start (like 9-0) his teammates were so jacked up...and the crowd just didn't get loud on occasion...it was non-stop..the fans in the stands refused to stop...it was almost like telling the players 'you will not lose this game'..

it's been almost 30 years...things were different back then...generational? maybe.. Glad I was there .. now I get to go to the doctor to figure out why Im having dizzy spells and its freaken snowing slush/ice,

its NOT the building, its who and/or who is not in it.
congrats Hawkeye women...and for those who were able to be there.

Cut out the personal attacks. No call for that.

Fran, I really appreciate the things you post here but this is not necessary in it derails the topic content and makes you look bad. We all know what/how Chis is and his antics. Just saying.
