Carver crowd making a difference

Gotta give the fans who showed up last night . . . over 12,000 . . . some credit. With the game slipping away and Iowa trailing by 12 with only 7 minutes left, almost everyone got up and started making noise. Almost immediately Wisconsin fired a cross-court pass into the third row. And then it really got loud, and Iowa's comeback was on. Wisconsin never recovered.

Other than poor weather, there is no good reason to stay home. This is one of the most enjoyable Hawkeye teams in decades. Not only do they have an All-American center, they have a roster full of tough-minded, gritty kids who back down from no one. They're one of the top five offenses in college basketball, and they play much better defense than they usually get credit for.

So thanks to everyone at Carver last night for helping the guys finish off that win. Keep it going. These Hawkeyes have earned it.

If 15,000 is a sellout, there were at least 14,000 in attendance.

They kept mentioning Fredrick’s three in the post game as the loudest they’d heard CHA. The WI turnover you mentioned was even louder. The crowd was looking for reasons to get loud.

I remember turning to my wife around the 8:00 minute mark and saying “God, want to just leave and I’ve never left a game early”. Worse than getting beat is playing like crap and beating yourself.

Maybe so, but the announced crowd, as reported by the Press-Citizen, was 12,000 and change. That's all I know. Except that no matter the numbers, the folks who were there did themselves proud by giving the Hawkeyes the lift they needed when they needed it.

I saw that 12,500 was announced in another thread. That is crazy. I’ve heard of attendance being inflated by number of seats bought vs butts in the seats. Never of heard of it the other way around though. Lol

There must have been bigger pockets of open seats that I didn’t see.
